Ok, I am going on a night out with 2 friends in a couple of weeks. We will be going to a few nice bars then clubbing. One of my friends hasn't been out for awhile and has said we should all get really glammed up. I am now in a blind panic, I live in jeans, plain tops and trainers & boots. When I go out into town my idea of dressed up is a nice top, nice jeans & a mid heel/wedge shoe (struggle with anything higher). My friend has said she was thinking of dresses and high heels.
The thing is both my friends seem to be able to put anything on and look great, they are also thin (a size 8/10 and the other 10/12 Envy). I am the opposite.
I am 5ft 2in, size 18/20 top & bottom. Lots of flabby wobbly bits, big boobs, big tum (or should I say tums!!).

Please help me, am having a major self confidence crisis!! Sad Sad Sad

Wear what you feel good in. Maybe go glammer than you normally would - wear red or pink shoes or open toes etc but not higher than you like. Maybe choose something brighter or with a bit of sparkle but don't wedge yourself into something if you don't feel comfortable in it.

Clure · 29/10/2010 19:30

I agree with menagerie, get a nice top this sort of thing which will be a bit dressy up but hopefully you won't feel too uncomfortable in]]
Have you got a good/smart dark pair of jeans?
wear with some www.very.co.uk/teatro-artful-rose-trim-platform-shoes/734099340.prd?browseToken=%2fb%2f1669%2fs%2fbestsellers%2c0%2fr%2f100&trail=1589-1665-1669&prdToken=/p/prod3840203-sku5524456heels and a clutch
hope this helps! Have a great time

woopsidaisy · 29/10/2010 19:55

Hmmmm.I think it would be fun to get dolled up for the night. But I have been there with the post baby crap body when everyone else seemed to have morphed into Gisele...
Confidence is key.I know it is hard, but if you look miserable everyone will think you are miserable. So whatever you get,it needs to make you feel good,so you can feel confident.
What about this?
Or this?
Next.Comes in black also.
Maybe give some feedback about these, also budget etc?

AngrySmurf · 29/10/2010 22:13

Thank you. You are right about being comfortable which is why I usually wear my very dark blue jeans with a glam top.
I just don't think I could do a dress as I just don't feel comfortable at all in them. Saying that I really liked the one from Next that woopsidaisy suggested in black. Not too sure if it would make be look a bit boxy as I have big boobs? Do you think maybe I could wear that dress with leggings and some nice shoes & clutch as suggested by Clure?
Budget wise I am high street rather than designer and also depending on me wearing it again!!

Have you had a look at ASOS curvy?

TethHearseEnd · 29/10/2010 23:07

What about a jumpsuit?

PastaDiva · 29/10/2010 23:38

I think the second one that woopsidaisy suggested is lovely (the simply be one that's in black and magenta). The neckline of the Next one might be a bit high I think.

bananapeanutbutter · 29/10/2010 23:41

that next one in black would look gorgeous on you (I quite like the cherry colour too actually - nice without being bright or showy). I like the shoes Clure linked to but might be too high for you if you're not used to heels? what about something like these? mid heel i would wear with black opaque tights to elongate legs.

woopsidaisy · 30/10/2010 07:28

Sorry, didn't realise you had big boobs. What about this dress,or this one? They size up to an 18,but the cut is generous. And all made for big boobs!
They also have a nice top to go with trousers if you prefer.

AngrySmurf · 30/10/2010 09:09

Sorry, still not too sure about a dress even though your suggestions are lovely, it's just me!! Could'nt do a top that short either has I have quite a 'mummy tummy' Blush.
On a plus I am feeling alot more positive today, I was so down as my friend also started going on about what I should be eating to loose weight so was feeling really low.
what does everyone think of these?
next
what could I wear with that to cover my arms?
or next again maybe not as flattering for boobs
didn't realise asos did a curvy section, will have a look now

AngrySmurf · 30/10/2010 09:25

should have said to wear them with black skinny jeans or leggings (not as a dress!!)
have looked on Asos Curve, not really liking anything on there & some of the stuff is VERY unflattering!! But still good to know it's there.

I like both your tunic suggestions Angrysmurf, although not sure if the ruffles may flatter a larger bust
Looked on the next website and also saw this which could be a good shape for you? would look great with skinny jeans and you could glam the look up with heels and accessories
what about a tunic with leggings and boots?

angrysmurf · 01/11/2010 14:44

Clure I LOVE that tunic, I think I will order now, not sure how I missed that one!!
The sleeve length would sort out my arm issues, just hope it's not too clingy to show off my back fat Blush
I do have a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, do you think these would be ok or would a black pair be better?

OP posts:
Clure · 01/11/2010 21:43

I think you could get away with dark blue as long as they were dark - they'd be a bit more dressy. although I personally would go for black (but thats because 98% of my wardrobe is black!!)
