Urgent help to make a blimp look good please!!

Ok - I am currently 9.5 months post DC2 .... and therefore looking like a blimp - I don't even know what size I am but seems to be around a 16 in places like next / sainsbo's ....

I have a work meeting next week and its the first time I will have seen most of my team since leaving on mat leave last december... I want to look vaguely nice to detract from the 'omg noseynora looks like a blimp' comments... Confused
for a start its an ALL male team - apart from me! oh and the rest of them are slim too Blush

We are having a meeting, followed by team 'bonding' and an evening out too.... so I need something smart casual for the day - no real dress code in the office, and a smarter top for the evening

I also have next to know money Angry!!

I am only 5' 4" so alot of the longer style tops which would hide my tum perfectly are too long for me!

If anyone has ANY suggestions they would be greatly appreciated! Oh the meeting is TUESDAY!

I like but not sure what they would look like on my shape!!

That second top looks nice. I sound like a similar shape to you and I'm tempted to try that top after seeing it.

Will have a look what else might suit you....

I like the long jumper look, and love that lilac colour but would steer clear of skinny rib knits, as they're not forgiving of lumps and bumps at all. I'm an hourglass size 12 and will only wear that kind of knit with a long tight fitting vest underneath. And even then I need control pants!! If you're going to get it, I'd order a size or two up so it doesn't cling.

I like the black top, I would think that would be fine, either with slim fit jeans or leggings underneath.

I'd go jumper dress with jeans and flats or boots for day, and then change to heels for evening. New Look have some lovely jumper dresses at the moment, as do Zara and Gap, if that's any help. At least with Next, you could have it by Sat, and send it all back if no good.

I know the pink one's deliberately ripped, but is that appropriate for a first day back at work?
Ignore me if it is - you know your dress code better than I do!

mummycreepynora · 28/10/2010 19:54

Whatswrong - its not my first day back (started in Aug) but my team is spread throughout the country so not seen even my boss since I got back! As an example for a day at work I am normally in jeans with smartish trainers / pumps and a casual top.

Shapewise - I have largish boobs (D) but these are currently overtaken by my fecking baby bump - this second pregnancy seems to have stretched my abs or something as I still look pregnant BlushAs a result I am still in mat jeans - for comfor more than anything! That and to fit over the bump they would be huge everywhere else double Blush

I got some really nice jumper dress type things in Zara last week. Bought 4 thinking I'd try on and take some back but keeping them all.

mummycreepynora · 28/10/2010 19:57

not sure I can afford Zara Blush

how about this?

OP posts:
Paribus · 28/10/2010 20:01

why don't you go for a control wear? m&s or flexees from JL or spanx will do the job hiding all lumps and bumps and you'll be able to fit into whatever you like and look good..

mummycreepynora · 28/10/2010 20:18

would it sort the pregnant bump issue ? If so I might buy a years supply! Grin

So everyone - thanks for your help

today I went on a bit of a mission and bought :

super mega hold everything in pants (m&s anti cellulite ones)
a long big loose cowl neck pale pink jumper from h&m
a new hoodie from new look Hmm not on the list!
some shoe boots (think thats the term!) in a lovely grey suede type material
some bracelets
and a white long vest top to wear under pink jumper as its really thin so kind of see through and can see bra material etc

VERY happy with my choices - although could do with some skinny jeans / leggings to finish it off- do they do any in blimp shapes?!?!?!

thanks again!

Ooh any links for the shoeboots? I'm looking for some grey ones.

Sounds like you did well.
Can't vouch for the fit but Primark do skinnies and straight legs for £8 so you can try out the style without splashing much cash!

mummycreepynora · 29/10/2010 19:41

these better in real life too

They're nice - very cute in fact - if only they had full toes!

< Wimp >

mummycreepynora · 29/10/2010 21:29

if it helps - you can't see much toe at all - not even to nail really < equal wimp >
