I'm considering trying boden jeans

They seem to run quite big from the size chart. Is this right?

AND are they any good?

I love them, they fit well & the quality is great. I've got bootcut & straight leg, the bootcut are a couple of years old but are still going strong. Not sure about the sizing, I'm a 12/14 depending on the shop/style & I've got 12 in the bootcut & 14 in straight leg. Even better if you can get them in a sale!

Rannaldini · 28/10/2010 14:30

the sizing in boden is big in general i think

the trousers and jeans esp are fabbo

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 28/10/2010 14:45

I love Boden jeans. I don't like them tight and wear a 14R and I AM a 14 pretty much across the board, so I see them as true to size.... They last well - a pair I have had several years are now finally being relegated to "messy jeans" but they have been worn hundreds of times.

higgle · 28/10/2010 14:54

Johnnie B ones are lovely ( and cheaper )

MimsyStarr · 28/10/2010 15:15

I got the straight leg jeans - beware, because they stretch a lot. They were big around the groin area. Try a size down.

Apart from that, they were a great style and colour.

Uniqlo jeans are also great. Pity their website is so awful!

gorehaginhellsbum · 28/10/2010 17:40

I've tried the shorts and the jeans and found them a good fit on bum and waist but really baggy on the thighs.
I didn't find them anything special considering they were £50 full price.

bananapeanutbutter · 28/10/2010 18:14

Thanks everyone. i'm a size 10-12 (usually more a 12) but from the size chart I'd definitely be a 10.

I love my topshop marthas but they are baggy around waist and the size down is too small. So i'm searching for a diff brand of straight leg jeans that fit like marthas (more skinny than bootleg which a lot of "straight leg" jeans are).

I had a look at uniqlo site and the jeans are very cheap - is the quality any good?

uniqlo jeans look the same as boden. they are both very simle boring

MollygoreR · 28/10/2010 18:25

oh god i feel a right heifer now. I am a 12.
the 12 flares I bought were very snug. I wish I had gone to 14.

bananapeanutbutter · 28/10/2010 18:29

any recs for more interesting straight leg jeans valium? Grin

you're not a heifer Molly, for all i know the 10s would be too tight, im just going on a sizing chart on the site!

ummmm, fond of the oasis jean myself. Walk in, pull off shelf. Their sizing is consistent so if you're a size ten in one style you'll be size ten in their other styles too. Their jeans more expensive than uniqlo but less expensive than Boden's. They have a bit more to them too! jmo

Bit frumpy you might think but I bought a lovely pair of 'skinny' jeans in wallis recently, only wallis being wallis they aren't all THAT skinny, which I like being an owlwan now. Don't want to look a slave to fashion. I just nod at it over the hedge. They're skinnier than straight leg jeans.

bananapeanutbutter · 28/10/2010 18:46

oasis seem to do either flared, bootleg or skinny though. can't see any straight leg? I guess the cherry jeans dont look too skinny... Are they the ones you like? What do you mean a bit more to them? Thanks valium.

I wasn't impressed by the Boden bootlegs I had. Baggy on the thigh, boring, and didn't last two years before one of the knees was through. I much prefer the jeans I have had from White Stuff and Monsoon (still boring, perhaps, for a real fashionista but a much better fit than Boden and better quality too.)

MimsyStarr · 28/10/2010 22:02

Yes, I think the Uniqlo quality is good. The J+ jeans, in particular, are good quality. I bought 3 pairs, thinking I would keep one and send the others back, but ended up keeping all three. I could look out the style numbers for you?

One pair are J+ straight leg, and were similar to the Boden straight leg (but have kept their shape).

The other two were skinny jean style. One pair was from the 3D denim - a firm fit, a bit like a corset for the legs! Hold you in, in the right places.

providentielle · 28/10/2010 23:45

GAP do straight leg jeans, I have a couple of pairs from there and both still going strong. One of the pairs are my fav ones Grin

kittya · 29/10/2010 12:17

Boden straight leg jeans fit me really well. Skinny they aint though. I got the olive ones this year for a change. Whatever you do though, do not pay full price!! use the spend £30 get £10 off and you will get a bargain! they fit better than the bootleg style.

ladybyron · 29/10/2010 13:15

I agree. The Boden straight leg for me fits really well although I generally have the impression that Boden's tops are always on the generous size whilst their trousers are quite tight. My straight leg size 10 are the same fit as M&S's size 8.

gorehaginhellsbum · 29/10/2010 14:30

banana I am same size and currently sitting in my topshops and looking for others!
I've tried the high waisted skinnies from Next which I find good but slightly baggy/saggy in 12 and too tight in a 10. Nice fit for boot wearing as tight all the way down.

My best fitting jeans were Diesel from years ago or Lucky brand (from US).
They were a 29 inch waist and straight leg.
I think I'm resigned to going on a city centre H of Fraser/Diesel trawl without DC to find that inbetween size and paying alot for them.

bananapeanutbutter · 29/10/2010 15:16

yes thats what I need gorehaginhellsbum - 29" waist (or I need to lose another few kilos!)

I bought the high waisted skinnies from Next with high expectations but the ones I received were just such crap quality. They felt like they were going to stretch out in about two washes.

I also bought the Gap straight ones and found them too bootcut - not slim enough in the calf. The 28" waist actually fit though.

Mimsystarr I will have to look more into the uniqlo ones. the 3D ones sound good! How skinny are they? I saw the J+ straight a while ago in store but wasn't impressed.

Interesting re diesel - I almost bought a pair of SL jeans from the Next site.

I think I'm going to try the Oasis Cherry cut next and then if that fails, splurge on the diesel.

have you tried the Levi Curve? I just bought them in America and wished Id bought another couple of pairs, the skinny is all the way down. They look fantastic on. For everyday jeans though, the boden straights are good but they are not skinny.

MimsyStarr · 30/10/2010 00:11

Yes peanutbutter, the 3D denim ones I got from Uniqlo are skinny all the way down. I have to do that funny little dance to get them on, Grin like a leprechaun.

Jinxri58 · 03/06/2019 11:25

Can anyone tell me about the quality an fit of Marina Rinald slim fit jeans?
