Bella Swan fancy dress - help!

LC200 · 26/10/2010 20:58

Hello All,

Very random I know. Am off to a fancy dress party on Saturday night. DH (very pale, thick brown hair, chiselled jaw) is going as Edward Cullen. I, therefore, am going as Bella.

My friend is lending me a pair of Converse, but after that I am fairly stumped.

I have never owned a pair of skinny jeans in my life, but was about to invest anyway, to wear with boots and tunics, so where's good? Have relatively short legs but a v long body so need some that are quite long in the rise. Also am size 10 but have very big hips for my size, so where do skinny jeans cut for curvy hips?

Also, what kind of thing does she normally wear on top?

Help!

pmsl, I know, she is really irritating. Also I look absolutely nothing like her, but hey ho, at least I'll be comfy at the party!

Layers on top. A long sleeve skinny top, with a t shirt over it. And either a checked shirt over that, or a waterproof jacket, cos it's always raining in Forks! Although, if you're inside at a party, you'll be sweltering in all those layers, so perhaps just the long sleeve skinny, with a tshirt over the top.

Get a tshirt printed up ( or I'm sure there's merchandise availale ) with whatever the name of the school she goes to on it, perhaps?

Celery · 26/10/2010 21:30

Pale natural make up. I've just realised I actually dress like her most of the time anyway.

scowly face, lank hair, i heart edward badge...

rosieposey · 26/10/2010 21:31

I know you can get replicas of her dresses in the states,

Yes, was going to say, you could be tongue in cheek and wear this tshirt over your skinny top:

sorry, my bracket keys don't work, can't do a proper link.

LOVE that t-shirt, but with express delivery was 40 quid! And not sure the ordinary delivery would come on time. Will have to scour Claire's Accesories for a badge instead.

I am planning to paint a scar on my arm from James's vampire bite.

That taffeta dress is beautiful! However, I don't think anyone at the party is enough of a fan of the Twilight saga to recognise a similar dress as being Bella's birthday bash dress from New Moon.

LC200 I have a badge making machine - I'm happy to make one up for you tomorrow? (if I have badge making parts - haven't checked in a while!)

LC200 · 26/10/2010 22:05

Aww, that's very sweet, thank you! The drama group I'm in has one, thinking about it, and the chair is my best friend's husband, so will call on him to make one for me if I draw a blank in town tomorrow, but thanks so much for the offer.

Now, if I could make my hair grow about four inches and change colour, and lose about a stone, and radically alter my shape, that'd be ace.

Thanks very much for all the suggestions. I am now the proud owner of some Ultimate Skinny Jeans from Topshop, and a Topshop Tall vest. Have borrowed a black shirt and Converse boots from my friend.

Now for dh. What kind of thing does Edward wear? We are thinking maybe Gap type clothes?

A green hooded jacket? Im also doin a twilight costume but am going as laurent! I will be plaiting my long hair all day and have a flouncy shirt and velvet jacket!

4plus1 · 28/10/2010 19:09

Just had a mad idea but bear with me! I remember seeing a costume of someone doing sigorney weaver in alien, with an alien head stuck on their top as if it was coming out. Would it be too weird, ( and hope theirs no kids at ur party!) if you got a smallish baby doll, painted some vamp teeth on it and either sewed or pinned it onto a top. You would need one of those dolls that have a soft body. Staple or sew depending how handy you are, some red tissue paper or fabric around it, as in the womb!! Gross or funny? I think it would be fun!

LC200 · 28/10/2010 22:04

That would be really, really funny. Actually I have my Auntie's old wedding dress which she never wants to see again, so I could go from skinny jeans, to wedding dress, then later to vampire spawn emerging from top in a bloody fashion. And I will be really drunk by then, so will look like a heap of shit anyway!

That is such a cool idea. I wonder whether it will disturb the kids to see me stapling one of their baby dolls, covered in fake blood, to an old maternity top?
