Even in JL.
I returned a couple of items I bought at the weekend- got to the till, couldn't find receipt.

Can I have vouchers?
We don't do them, you have to exchange for another item.

OK- my fault, no receipt. But I didn't have time to look around for something else, so harumphed off to Bentalls, where I had a £135 coat to return, bought in a transaction involving cash and card.
After hatchet face woman said there was no one on the floor to sanction the refund, a very nice lady took me upstairs to customer services, who made a pigs ear of the refund. I was in the store 20 minutes.

Then was totally ignored by waitress in the cafe for 7 minutes. Yes I counted, and there were 2 customers in.

Got home to find ds's tshirt from Sports Direct has a bloody big hole in it where the security tag has been.

Bollocks.

Oh and then found mislaid JL receipt in Bentalls bag, so at least got my refund there.

I find it stressfull going shopping in that town as it is. I briefly popped in on saturday and thoroughly regretted it.

Bummer for the customer service though, don't let it ruin your day. JL staff there are usually v nice, maybe they're all having an off day too?
I find Bentalls usually has fairly crap customer service though!

deaddei · 25/10/2010 15:03

Yes, that's the first time I've been a bit Shock in JL.

oh dead I've just been in Kingston, in Argos Blush(renowned for their customer service) we could have met up and consoled each other

deaddei · 25/10/2010 15:17

Oh Argos- truly a hellish experience.
We should have commiserated over a cake Smile

NinjaChipmunk · 25/10/2010 15:18

cybbo did you feel your life ebbing away whilst you avoided sitting on their filthy seats? i feel like i've entered a slghtly different world when i go in there.

deaddei · 25/10/2010 15:22

And Argos is on the wrong side of the tracks too in Kingston. You have to run the gauntlet of the people at the bus stops, all fagging it, McDonalds and the lumpy schoolgirls with their colossal Primark bags.
(shudders and runs to the haven that is JL)

NinjaChipmunk · 25/10/2010 15:29

i swear in between hsbc and primark you temporarily get all your brain cells removed and they are only put back when you cross over and get to Heals.

cybbo · 25/10/2010 17:48

yes heals is in an odd place isnt it?

I bought a slow cooker in Argos which is now perculating my chicken to perfection.

ninja I didnt know you were a KT2 gal

Mumsnutterwithanaxeontheloose · 25/10/2010 18:28

deaddei · 25/10/2010 18:43

i'm actually in surbiton but grew up in kingston. didn't know there were so many locals!

Euphemyknifeinyourback · 25/10/2010 21:38

M&S cafe is the worst. Never enough people serving, none of them can make a decent cappuccino, they have recently changed the criteria for your 10th free drink so that you can only get a small/medium (despite having paid for 9 large coffees to earn the last one), you have to ask for a glass for your juice, then ask for ice ... I could go on [hangry]

NinjaChipmunk · 25/10/2010 21:46

i try to avoid the M&S cafe, i just get stressed trying to find somewhere to sit. if you can get a window table the riverside cafe in JL is nice.

i do like shopping in kingston on a weekday morning when its all quiet though. i can even do Primark on a day like that!

deaddei · 25/10/2010 22:05

I usually go to Moka at the top of the Bentalls centre for coffee, mainly brcause someone takes your order.
Or Patisserie Valerie is my new place if I can be arsed to schlep across the market place.
Ninja- that's my fave time too.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 25/10/2010 22:19

Hey, count me in, I'm local too (Berrylands), but I rarely go into Kingston, no time for shopping. If you fancy the cinema, though...

NinjaChipmunk · 25/10/2010 22:22

ooh i've not tried patisserie valerie yet, their cakes look nice though.

NannyPatsSausagePlait · 26/10/2010 09:05

The M & S cafe is the best vantage point for Santa's first visit into Kingston...which should be coming soon actually. Did anyone go to the Darth Vadar light switch on last year? So festive!

deaddei · 26/10/2010 10:16

The cakes are wonderful.
Nice coffee too.

NinjaChipmunk · 26/10/2010 10:49

I did nanny, could not believe how busy it was. wonder what its going to be this year?

NannyPatsSausagePlait · 26/10/2010 11:19

Its my cyb with name change btw

CristinaTheAstonishing · 26/10/2010 16:08

Xmas lights will probably be a smaller affair this year. I was reading in the local paper that there won't be any in Surbiton and Tolworth, a saving of £6500.

pickledbabe · 26/10/2010 16:11

it sounds like a mn local meet might be on the cards for you lot [hgrin]

deaddei · 26/10/2010 16:12

I would be in awe of cyb's elegance and dress sense Envy
