Hi, I went to Clarks today to get wither shoes for my DD. Her feet were measured to be 7.5 and G wide. However when we tried every single pair in the shop of that size (and bigger) we found out that she does not get further than the joints of her toes. She must have a high instep I was told. We ended up getting her wellies of size 8 (which are rather big but that was the only option) but obviously that will not do for the winter.
We got a worn pair of Stride Rites from a friend which are size 8 too but they seem rather bulky, heavy and large. I would love to get her something unworn which would not be that heavy and big but have no idea where to search!
We live in London so one would think it should not be a problem to find a shop. Any ideas are appreciated please!

Go to John Lewis. When I took DS to JL in Sheffield they looked at his feet and knew which styles and makes would fit his feet, which wouldn't; which would come up big/small etc. Their children's shoe fitters are "career" shoe fitters and know all about funny feet. As they stock lots of different manufacturer's they should be able to point you in the direction of something suitable.

We have the same problem with DD1, we buy Startrite or Hush Puppies for her. Girls boots are a no no as they are not deep enough to get her foot in. We have resorted to a plain brown pair of boys ankle boots for everyday and a pair of hush puppies mary janes for smart. We got these not too badly boyish but perfect because we live in the countryside so sturdy enough for haring about the woods.

Thank you so much, this is very helpful! I am scared to get anything online bloodherrybatbait, as I was just shocked that not a single pair in Next or Clarks would even remotely fit. I will try John Lewis next week and see if they can do something for me there.
