Can anyone advise me on jeans?

I need more jeans, but can't wear low-waisted ones - they just look stupid on me.

I have big hips, big bum, big tum, and a high waste! Not big legs though, longish, and slimish.

That'll be a no then, and waste was waist! But this thread may have been a waste.

After nuch searching and countless pairs of 'orrible ones I have found them in Next: Perfect jeans boot cut, non stretch, mid waisted and longer than most of Next's regular length jeans! The long are too long even with heels and reg feel too short UNTIL NOW! Cheap too at £24.99

I think (sorry - granny alert!) Land's End do higher waist, less muffin-toppy jeans than most (but still below the tummy button to avoid looking to Jeremy Clarkson )
I think a bit of stretch would be good on you to cling to your good legs and hold the tummy in a bit

Have heard that waists are getting higher this season. I bought a pair of slouch trousers (?) from Next and they had a higher waist than most of the trousers I have tried/bought recently.

The style is supposed to be skinny jeans which might not be flattering but I still see loads of bootlegs in the shops, IMO more flattering to most body shapes.

I like my jeans from Phase 8 - again, not to low cut.

MrsSpoon · 13/09/2005 23:11

I know you said jeans but these are the slouch trousers from Next, they are quite supporting round the tummy area, I often find that black trousers can be made from that very thin material that clings to every lump and bump but these are good. IIRC they also have them in pinstripe and checked).

Article in Observer mag last weekend on someone who makes jeans, nice jeans that fit real people, some new designer, sorry cant remember her name, it might be on their website though.

SleepySuzy · 13/09/2005 23:16

Thanks, all! And I like those slouch pants - could probably get away with wearing them for work. And love Next - dp has just got a discount card with his new job!

Life's not all bad!

The only thing with those slouch pants - do they have side pockets? If they do they tend to stick out if even the slightest bit tight. I've got a pair from La Redoute that do the same.

SleepySuzy · 16/09/2005 13:34

Oh, my hips are big enough already!

I've just bought a pair of Liz Claiborne jeans which fit well. As it's US sizing, you'll be at leats 2 sizes smaller than usual, which makes you feel even better. The legs are really long -I am 32" inside leg and can never get jeans long enough and these are about three inches too long.

I also have a pair of Land's End jeans . Is this really a granny alert, Aloha?
