I kind of think you're overthinking this. However,I would go for something like this.Use the two lighter colours for the day, then add the darker colours to ramp up for the evening. What about changing earings? Wear studs, change to big dangly ones for pm?

woopsidaisy · 22/10/2010 19:28

Should point out I was not talking about the actual shadow in the picture, just whatever quad suits you/outfit etc.

Thanks, good advice about buying a compact with a range of colours in so I can adjust.

Earrings staying in all day though! I have my outfit planned, will put my hair up and I have some chandelier earrings for impact.

what is your colouring? what do you like to emphasise (eg lips, eyes, skin ...)

maize · 22/10/2010 20:54

I am very pale with dark hair and pink tones in my skin.

Wearing grey and black.

Always emphasise my eyes when I do my makeup.

Base and lip colour is pretty set, very dull!

Just keep it natural , wear eyeliner and natural eyeshadow, whatever suits your eye ccolour.

Do you have a link to the dress or can you describe it?

i would do a daytime smokey eye with mauves and charcoal colours with "natural" looking false eyelashes if you are comfortable. i have something like this but with a nice mauve www.bobbibrown.co.uk/product/2329/12774/Makeup/Eyes/Eye-Palettes/Day-to-Night-Cool-Eye-Palette/Limited-Edition/index.tmpl as well (it was last season). I would also use a bit of blush or bronzer (both in my case!) to contour your cheekbones for the photos. Don't go too thick on the foundation/powder or too dark/vibrant with colours for daytime. Check yourself in natural lighting before you leave.

how can you overthink make-up?! Grin

Have a look on here

She has similar colouring to what you describe and I think some of the looks she does for brides are just very elegant & understated. Agree with PP - how can you ovething makeup?! Getting ready is often my favourite part of the day!!

Really like the dress/shoes. With those colours I think nude defined eye and deep plummy lip might look stunning. There is a Revlon colour in the new lipstick line called Plum that looks really stunning if you can carry it off...

I went shopping today and bought a metallicy shimmery light plum eyeshadow not as pink as it looks which I will layer over a nude bade for my eyes.

Then bought a berry coloured lip gloss (tried lipstick but it was too much for me).

Will make eyes smokier at night.
