Under the bump/over the bump

never thought I'd be so pleased at having just blown so much money in my lunch hour, but I've managed to find a shop with nice maternity clothes - last time around I got so depressed at the total lack of anything nice.

Anyway - have discovered this great label called queen mum - the jeans are totally fab, probably better than my non pg jeans. went for the under the bump this time as they were so comfy...but am now just a tad nervous that once i am more pg my flab will all roll over the top I hasten to add that I will be wearing long tops underneath - no naked skin for me....

what's the general consensus on under/over during pg?

I personally prefer over as I find them more comfortable.

spykid · 13/09/2005 13:33

under looks better
over more comfy

did either of you have problems with the under's digging in lter when your bump was at the giant watermelon stage?

over, under digs in.

Best place for mat clothes is H&M, cheap cheap cheap and most important fashionable.

Klara · 13/09/2005 13:41

Can't do H&M really - most of it doesn't fit me particularly well and I loathe going into the centre of Amsterdam so much that I probably have a look there once a year....

Have to say that the general offering is alot better than the last time round, but is it just me or does anyone else think formes is cr*p? Hate the stuff - went in to have another look reently and the saleswoman tried to persuade me itno a dress that made me look like a member of the Amish!

And pregnancy underwear - too awful to conytemplate. Q. "do you have this in any other oclour excewpt black?" - A. "Yes, we do it in flesh and white too".......bye bye nice undies. last time round I was told by one sales assistant that it was "time for you to stop being selfish - it's not about you anymore - it's about your child"....and why is wanting pink/blue/attractive colourd undies selfish....ffs!!!

sorry - rant over

I like Vertbaudet's maternity range, you can buy it online. I also think JoJo Maman Bebe have a reasonable maternity range

wartywitch · 14/09/2005 06:32

and they haev a sshop here!

SleepySuzy · 14/09/2005 06:57

I liked to wear overbump for comfort, but as long as you don't have the bump exposed, under is fine. I hate bare bumps showing!

bobbybob · 14/09/2005 07:22

Under look good if you are standing up all the time, but cuts in when seated.

I still wear my pg underwear as my stomach doesn't get a line across from the elastic.

harpsichordcarrier · 14/09/2005 07:30

under the bump, I'd say. Over the bump reminds me of those old men who wear their trousers under their armpits.

hoxtonchick · 14/09/2005 08:22

i had under the bump jeans from topshop when i was pg with dd. they didn't fit at any point in my pregnancy. i was so pissed off. i had some lovely isabella oliver under the bump black stretchy trousers which were fab & i wore all the way through. can also reccommend noppies, i think they might be dutch actually.

triceratops · 14/09/2005 08:25

I wish I could find tops long enough to cover my bump. I seem to always be showing my extremely unattractive outty tummy button or the nice stockingy bit if the trousers are over bump.

funmum have been the best fit so far, I have a long body.

triceratops · 14/09/2005 08:27

None of my blooming marvellous maternity clothes have fitted at any stage in this pregnancy. I think they may be better for people who are not tall.
