Pure aftersales - is this acceptable

I bought the cashmere wristwarmers from Pure and wore them for the first time on Monday. I noticed a tiny hole within an hour or so by the seam. I emailled Pure about this and they offered to send me some yarn to repair them or if I prefer to post them back and they will darn them.

I was a bit Shock at this as these were new and I would have expected them to be exchanged. Am I being reasonable to ask for an exchange or should I just attempt a repair job?

No - demand exchange/refund - goods not of merchantable quality. Use big words 'this is not acceptable as the product is not of merchantable quality and if you are not prepared to follow up this complaint with an exchange I will only accept a refund in respect of this matter'.

They should understand that

Definitely ask for an exchange. You shouldn't be expected to repair them!

Thanks, it didn't sound right to be but I wondered if I was missing something!
