Boden for DCs- what has been a good purchase?

I have been looking at the Boden catalogue and thinking about buying a few bits for the DCs, although may well wait until the sale. There are quite a few things I like the look of.
Has anybody made any especially good purchases this year that they can recommend?

I like the lined trousers with ribbed waists for my ds. He loves the coloured camoflage pants though they aren't as nice this year - he's still squeezing into last year's'cos he likes them so much! Bought a padded jacket last year which will do this year as well - better than GAP (which I used to get). Don't get the woolly hats - they shrink in the wash.

DD is 6 - she has the slim leg denim jeans and the purple bootleg cords. Both are great. I got her the navy tutu skirt from the winter catalogue which she loves and also the pet cardigan.

teej · 18/10/2010 21:01

sleepy I only ever buy at 20-25% off or sale. DD (4.5) got quite a few bits and bobs this autumn but her highlights have been the dog print dress, the grey zebra print slim jeans, the orla-kiely-esque grey "pear" t-shirt, the purple fringed pixie boots and the purple check skirt. Similarly the slim jeans for my DS (nearly 8)are a must because he is so skinny; he also got a couple of the t's (target design and space shuttle, the green check shirt and a pair of vintage chinos. They both got nightwear too as it washes and wears brilliantly and they itch if they aren't wearing 100% cotton (really).

Dancergirl · 18/10/2010 21:08

Dd loves her red hooded cardigan - she lives in it and even sleeps in it if it's cold!

Also bought the chocolate flower print dress which has been a big hit. And the cord gypsy skirt.

I think with 15% off it's not bad value - their stuff is good quality and for me it's got to last for 3 daughters!

Fleece lined anoraks

thighsmadeofcheddar · 18/10/2010 21:11

Those furry lined zip up tops. DD lives in her and you can get 2 seasons out of them. Really toasty.

accessorizequeen · 18/10/2010 22:02

Bought cord chinos for ds1 and 2, really lovely, soft. Furry lined hoody for ds1 gorgeous. Tartan baggies didn't need any this year but wonderful always.

happilyeverafter · 18/10/2010 23:08

3 in 1 coat, fleece lined anorak and jersey peacoat are all lovely.

I would say the denim skinnies and the slouchy sweatpants have been the most useful best winter purchases along with the pointelle tops with the lace trim. DD would probably say the velour hooded dress or the stripey long sleeved t-shirt dress as these are her always her first choice.

MimsyStarr · 18/10/2010 23:39

The track pants are great for DS (got both styles, one with ankle zip, one without). The lined jeans are very nice. Another bot for the Furry lined hoody.

MimsyStarr · 18/10/2010 23:39

I meant 'vote' not 'bot'.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 19/10/2010 08:17

Another vote for the lined boys trousers, trackie bottoms and tartan trousers.

Also the boys lined jeans are really thick and warm.

I've been very impressed with all the boys stuff I've bought TBH. Not cheap but can be passed down and the stuff washes and wears well.

Also not all sludge coloured.

abr1de · 19/10/2010 08:20

Trousers are good value. They last and the resell value on Ebay is a plus.

mrspnut · 19/10/2010 08:23

My DD is on her second winter in her fleece lined anorak, we also have a few pairs of trousers each autumn - this years are the lined cargo pants and the purple cord bootlegs.

I also buy loads of the shorts and skorts for the summer, along with the towelling beach dress.

In fact, I have never had a bad item from Boden and recommend it to all my friends.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/10/2010 08:30

We love the sleepwear.
Plus the fleece lined anoraks.

Plus t shirts butvprwfwr embroidered to printed

sleepyhead3 · 19/10/2010 13:09

Thanks everyone- so the lined trousers are good then. They seem to have an adjustable waist which is essential as my DCs are very skinny.
Have previously tried a couple of dress for DD but looked like tents on her!
May try again in the sale if can manage to do it quickly enough.

Velour hooded dresses.
Wash like new virtually and are really versatile in winter with leggings and summer as a cover-up.

GrimmaTheNome · 19/10/2010 15:52

Definitely the towelly dress if you have a DD who likes swimming but can't be arsed to dry or dress properly after!Grin

Good shorts/rash vest type things for summer activities.

Lined cords. Just got some jersey 'jeans' which I think are going to be a big hit (but they may already be out of stock)

Some of the t-shirts/tops, especially if like us you love comedy dogs.

newpup · 19/10/2010 17:13

My DDs are 8 & 11 and I have been buying them Boden for years now. It is good quality stuff if a little pricey. I usually stock up in the sales. Our favourites have been the long-sleeved tee-shirt tops, gypsy cord skirts, shorts, cropped summer trousers and nighties. I love their padded ski jackets, great winter coats.

The quality is good and DD2 has got lots of wear out of stuff well worn by DD1.

Recently boughtt some funky purple bootlegs and the gorgeaus red riding hood style cardigan for DD2. Also some tops and a skirt for DD1.

teej · 19/10/2010 17:18

sleepy they are doing special offers on different clothes every day this week so worth keeping an eye on the boden website.

There are some good offers on kids tops today - up to 30% off - so maybe worth a look?

My kids are skinny, too, so I completely sympathise! For my DD I find the slightly fitted dresses - e.g. the 'vintage' ones in spring/summer or the fun party dress this A/W(the doggy one I mentioned earlier) are still a bit gappy but not completely tent-like.

roastedfox · 19/10/2010 18:20

teej what was the offer yesterday please? just want to make sure i have'nt missed out too much Smile
i really like the baggies, really warm & thick

sleepyhead3 · 19/10/2010 20:55

Thanks so much teej- some good offers on tops!

I like the fun dress but DD may feel she is a little grown up for it. I liked the printed party skirt but they have already sold out of my favourite design in her size.

Anyway, may go for some tops today and maybe they will have good offers on trousers another day!

teej · 20/10/2010 01:29

roastedfox I missed the offers yesterday so can't enlighten you, sorry! Worth keeping an eye out for the rest of the week though because they seem to be applying an additional 11% off with free P&P too

roastedfox · 20/10/2010 10:40

thanx teej Smile
hopefully i have'nt missed the trousers offer as am after more! its 30% off kids coats today

HotchpotchHoney · 20/10/2010 12:48

use lnar and you get additional 15% off and free postage, i just gave in and ordered dd1 two coats that i've been eyeing up, with discount came to less than price of one full price!

I have brought loads for the dd's this year, my boys are that bit older now that they don;t really like boden. (ds1 (13) has some mini boden skinny jeans as they were the right dark denim but thats it)
for dd thew dresses are often too wide so i stick to the skirts and tops for them.
the stripey dress top with a bow on the front look good with leggings or tights.

accessorizequeen · 20/10/2010 15:05

I can't remember what was on Monday but don't think they've done trousers for boys yet I want a couple of baby tops for ds3, can use my £5 voucher too!
