No it wont be - its not an australian company they are actually onwned by an American company called dockers who took some small town australians to court to patent the name UGG (which was for many years an australian term for sheepskin boots) Now australian companies making the boots can not refer to the as UGG, only UGH or Ug etc.

USA best bet, but then tax could be a lot...

Or ebay? kurt geiger recently had 25% off in grazia mag, they have UGGs - maybe an offer like this will come along again...goood luck!

Yes, true about the name. I bought a pair of uggs last time I was in oz and they were called 'Home Boots' Grin

OP, you'd have to pay import tax on them. Even if your friend marked them as a 'Gift'.

hi - they are in fact american and ive always bought them from there (and get anyone whos going to bring me a pair) used to work out half price with old exchange rate but its still good now, just got some again this week! Grin not sure about ordering them though, if its £200 here its $200 there!!!

In fact Ugg boots did originally come from Australia, or possibly New Zealand. It's mists of time stuff.

An American company nicked the name and now have a copyright on it.

Ugg Australia is still very much alive and kicking and I have bought boots (from the seconds shop) when I've been to Oz. They use Ugg Australia and I think use lower case letters as opposed to upper case, which makes the whole thing legal, though totally confusing.

I think it was 2005 when I was asked to sign a petition, in Australia, to get Ugg restored to the Land Down Under.

Darn, no success.
