Waterproof coat with a hood

puddle · 12/09/2005 16:50

It's that time of year again where I am contemplating a rainy school run

  • I don't want a kagoule
  • I don't want something that makes me look like an overgrown toddler (see the waterproof coat by Boden)
  • Needs to work with work clothes and none-work clothes if possible

I just want something stylish, knee lengthish which will keep me dry through the winter

Too much to ask?

Obviously it is too much to ask

try h&m
I had a black knee length mac from ther in may , with detatchable hood, and its smart enough for work

beansontoast · 14/09/2005 10:14

another vote for hennes [h&m].

often a good choice of modestly priced, practical, almost stylish coats.

This could have been started by me! My only waterproof with a hood is one of those "Regatta" numbers (orange and black to boot!) VERY unflattering and not actually that waterproof for a waterproof coat! (Got caught in a particularly heavy downpour and the rain came through!) Will keep an eye on this thread to see if anything else comes up - I'm in Holland but we do have H&M here so I'll check it out!!

Not sure this thing exists really...I've been searching for years. If it's any way stylish it generally is only showerproof, not waterproof. The only thing I can think of (but they are not really fashionable any more) are those waxed cotton jackets/coats (barbours?)

Well I can't beleive that i'm not the only one who doesn't want to look mumsyish!
So I've been on e-bay and bought 2 fab raincoats that were v. reasonably priced and now for my sins i'm addicted to e-bay!!??
Good luck ;)

puddle - have you had any luck? I'm looking for one as well - got drenched yesterday morning in my "showerproof" mac with no hood!

Oh - by outdoorsy, do you mean kagoule-type thing? Don't want one of those!

Chillynips · 16/09/2005 20:11

yes but it does the job

tamum · 16/09/2005 20:13

If you're very rich you could look at this . I've been coveting it for ages.

Chillynips · 16/09/2005 20:14

tamum
it looks liek a maternity outfit

foxinsocks · 16/09/2005 20:14

I got one from an outdoors type shop. Problem with the stylish coats is that they tend not to be waterproof so you just end up feeling soggy. Honestly would suggest going to outdoors shop - you'd probably be surprised by the choice and if you really want to be properly waterproof, it's the only way to go.

tamum · 16/09/2005 20:15

charming

Chillynips · 16/09/2005 20:16

they ahd some cool ones in balcks like pull over ones with hoods

tmaum look at "the team"

tamum · 16/09/2005 20:16

I know, just like my own dear home life
