Does anyone prefer Joules to Boden?

As a longterm Bodenite, I ordered the Joules catalogue after seeing a couple of lovely Joules items on friends. However, I was really disappointed with it. It seems to be wannabe Boden but with far too many logos. Does anyone prefer it to Boden?

I do like joules but I don't prefer it to Boden. I can only compare the childrens clothing as I'm too fat Blush for joules and the quality of cloning is just as good.
I think because it's mainly the polo shirts that are logoed it doesn't look too bad and the joules logo on the girls wear isn't overly obvious. Dd's have several dresses each and they are both pretty and practical.

Ooh - I love Joules me. Grin But it is very horsey. Well, the stuff I buy is. For me, Boden has had its day.

knobbingnowt · 17/10/2010 16:36

I have found Joules better quality.

Like them both thou :)

domesticsluttery · 17/10/2010 16:41

I find Joules better quality too. I live in my Joules fleece and wellies at this time of year when I have to spend hours standing around at the side of football pitches or at the stables with the DC.

I tend to wear Joules for casual and Boden for smarter. But maybe that's just me.

blueberryboybait · 17/10/2010 16:43

I'm a Jules girl through and through - I never seem to find anything from Boden that fit's my odd shape!

blueberryboybait · 17/10/2010 16:44

Joules - small assistant hit the delete key.

Meggles76 · 17/10/2010 17:32

I Like both but for different things!

Boden for - plain knit wear, plain T-shirt tops and the odd funky Johnnie B item (am an 8-10 so can squeeze in to this range). I also like Boden for my DD who is 6. DS is 7 1/2 but I have not seen much I like for him this season.

Joules for - accessories - scarves, gloves, jewellery, brooches etc... I also bought lovely purple printed tunic / dress from there this season and it is perfect on my petite frame.

Boden and Joules should both consider a petite range or shorter lengths in trousers and dresses. At 5ft a lot of the styles are too long for me.

clothing not cloning (blooming spell check on the iphone)

MrsC2010 · 17/10/2010 19:17

Joules have been around for a long time much like Boden, so not really wannabes. used to be mainly equestrian/yachtie.

Joules is great quality I find, and their dresses have always been a lovely fit. They are getting pricier though, up towards Boden levels though.

They don't have as wide a range as Boden, which sometimes is nice as Boden can be a bit bewildering!

vintage4 · 18/10/2010 16:37

Boden stuff fits me better Joules have gone a bit bonkers trying to attract younger people

polyhymnia · 18/10/2010 17:50

No choice for me (except for accessories) - Boden go up to 22, Joules don't!

animula · 18/10/2010 18:36

I like Joules, but I've never been grabbed by Boden. It was the dresses that lured me in. I've bought this one as a post-whooping-cough pick-me-up.

I'm scared that it's a slippery slope, though. i found myself looking at the casual-wear, and wondering, the other day.

animula · 18/10/2010 18:36

Ooh, hello polyhymnia!

polyhymnia · 18/10/2010 18:43

Hi, lovely dress. Am a (selective - more is always returned than kept) Boden fan myself but could easily be lured by Joules if they decided to offer a wider size range.

ChileanMinerWife · 18/10/2010 18:45

no bogging

southeastastralbeing · 18/10/2010 18:52

joules is upper class and boden is middle class Grin

employmentlawquery · 18/10/2010 19:17

No, I think Joules is trying to be all yah (see the incredibly poncy polo shirts) but I am pretty sure that the vast majority of the punters who buy those lurid efforts have never clapped eyes on a live polo match. It seems a bit vulgar to me (although I have bought some of the more sober stuff for DS in the sale)

MrsC2010 · 18/10/2010 19:52

I like the fact that Boden do long lengths, as this allows me to actually buy trousers that might fit! But I like Joules more on the whole. Agree with employmentlawquery that the polo shirts etc have gone waaaaay OTT recently. I remember when I first saw Joules in Cowes (not being yachty poncy, I lived there for years) years back and their 'sporty' stuff (said toungue in cheek!) was quite sober, they did a lot of yachtie type basics etc which were useful for work.

Now I wait for the sales and buy dresses, and that's it! And even they have suddenly got 4 inches shorter this year... Confused And more expensive?

Whoremoanghoul · 18/10/2010 20:14

I mix them - really like the long sleeved tops from Joules this year and after much deliberation got my tweed jacket from Joules rather than Boden.

Not so impressed with the quality of the fabrics from Boden this year.

MrsC2010 · 22/10/2010 10:08

I just bought a couple of dresses from Joules, and the quality was much better than this year's Boden dresses. (Jersey.)
