Where are the gaps in Zara's lines? Difficult to say; I think there's a big gap in price between the casual stuff and the workwear, meaning while I can afford casual, the workwear is way out of my price range.

Where else, on the hight stree, do you shop regularly? Topshop, H&M, Warehouse

I look and usually walk out in disgust. Lots of nasty fabrics and everything too long for me.

Oh and I object to having to buy at least a size large when I am a size 10-12 anywhere else.

And it looks like a jumble sale a lot of the time.

AND it is stupidly laid out, so you have to wander around looking at everything just in case they've hidden whatever item it is you want somewhere.

I like it but only buy tops and dresses. Trousers far far too long. Mostly I love the baby clothes. Crap choice for older kids though. Seems to go from cute traditional dresses and dungarees to trampy tarty tat.

Agree re: the children's clothes.

I used to think their sizing was quite small but recently, I have found it to be more generous. Tops I usually would look for a large, but recently a medium will fit better. Trousers I bought a 10 in the summer but found it too big round the waist. I bought a jacket in large because that was the best fit round the shoulders. With skirts I've tried on the medium but found the small to fit better. So my advice would be to try on before buying cos there is no guarantee you can change for another size when you return it cos they carry so little stock especially in the non-basics.

The trousers are far too long.

I don't bother with Zara any more, for every single one of the reasons ghoul mentions: the jumble sale feel, the fabrics that look nice then feel nylony, the way everything is cut so tight.

I do wander round now and again because in the past I've had two much-loved Zara coats (both gorgeous sweepy sheepskin jackets that were real bargains), and am conscious that my gut reaction to the store is based on (a) slightly out of date experience and (b) my English thighs. But the Zara shopper, in my head, is leggy, blonde and a regular wearer of camel, three things I'm not.

Sizing - it is hard being a fairly normal size 12 and having to size up to a large - their sizing is all over the place, you have to try things on every time, because I never know if the medium or large is going to be right for me. Sort of sizing again - no petite clothes - I know things can be taken up, but I would like not to have the hassle/expense!

I get the odd bit that look good for the money. I've had the odd fab knit. The stock change often. The bad bits?? Holes appear more quickly than other stores, New Look clothes hold up better.

Sizings - okay I know I am not the smallest person in the world but I am only a size 14 in most other shops. I cannot buy tops in Zara because I am rather large in the nork area. Also, the fabric is sometimes awful.
