Leather satchel for a man?

stillfrazzled · 16/10/2010 18:41

Want a nice vintagey, tan/brown leather satchel for DH's b'day in early November.

Cambridge SC can only guarantee CHRISTMAS delivery if I order today Shock so need to look elsewhere.

Anyone know of good companies/brands? I found Tom Brown's, in Oxford, are they any good?

TIA Smile

How much do you want to spend - this looks nice to me or this?

stillfrazzled · 16/10/2010 19:20

Hadn't planned on quite that much but will keep them in mind, thanks! Think he'd rather something more tan coloured.

You could try notonthehighstreet.com - they sometimes have nice satchel/messenger type bags.

BelaLugosiISDED · 16/10/2010 21:09

I got a satchel from here and it's really nice (the medium wide one, was £57).
They have been pretty popular I missed one delivery and had to swoop on the next one, but it did arrive very quickly after I ordered.
I'd suggest giving them a ring if you're interested.

m and s have lots really nice

I was going to suggest Scaramanga, but I see someone has already bet me to it! I have two Scaramanga bags and love them. The boyf has one too. They're really good quality and look vintage when you get them Smile

I got my Dh the most gorgeous vintage looking leather satchel from the Greenwich market. It is brown leather but distressed. Much classier than anything I have ever seen in shops. Those bags in the links are nice but sorry this bag blows them away - much more sophisticated (he is a 30 yr old banker if that helps).

LaCerbiatta · 17/10/2010 13:50

Loads here. Also try Amazon, they have a good selection at good prices. I got this one for dh and it's very nice.

Another vote for for Scaramanga. Dh has a nice leather messenger bag...gets loads of compliments from guys at work and he works in creative industry where the boys know their bags!!!. depends what will suit your man
good luck

I love the Scaramanga too, but they're not back in stock till after DH's birthday Sad.

What do you think of these?

i don't like the newness of the leather so much on those? looks a bit stiff?

stillfrazzled · 18/10/2010 14:51

Yeah, was afraid you'd say that - secretly so do I.

Tis Scaramanga or nothing.

Have two possible courses of action:

1 Fess up, tell him what I wanted to get him, find out exactly which one he wants and wait for it to come in, thus ruining any surprise value

Or

2 Order this one which is v nice but might just slightly be veering into manbag territory.

What do the jury think?

can't you get the one you like for him for xmas instead? i understand your pain, dh bday is 5weeks before xmas so i kinda buy a few things then decide what to give for what!!

stillfrazzled · 19/10/2010 10:10

It's awful having to have TWO ideas in one go, isn't it?

I guess you're right. He mentioned in passing that he'd quite like a watch, so maybe do that for bday and bag for Christmas. Blardy annoying though.

One more to look at, though - could this be a goer?
