To go with this dress.

Probably should have toes, as I need to wear tights.

Budget, height and colour preferences please...Wink

to keep you going:

black

nude

leopard

Budget - say £70, max.

Height - mine or shoes/ I am 5ft 3, and I love sky high heels.

Colour preferences - am open to suggestions.

The dress is demure, so I wanted something to offset that.

The black ones have a bit too high a platform. I have legs like a builder, and any suggestion of clumpiness seems to emphasize that.

The nude ones are nice, but I'm not sure about that colour.

Like the leopardskin ones, but they have a peeptoe. Do you think that would look ok with tights? (Am ignoring the prices)

Ooh. Lurve the glitter ones. And the silver ones, but they are perhaps a bit blingtastic for me.

Now having to resist buying them STRAIGHT AWAY! Need to sleep on it first.

cheap and cheerful no 2

Butterbur · 16/10/2010 16:44

Am tempted by these very silly shoes.

The cheap ones don't look as nice.

Reaaally smooth. Well done me.

Matsikula · 16/10/2010 19:50

I reckon you need some fairly bling shoes as the dress is very elegant, but quite understated. Metallic shoes are always very useful for weddings and things. These ones in the big picture on the right are "open toed www.jigsaw-online.com/shop/1001172/shoes/heeled-shoes" but personally I think that's okay if you wear them with slightly patterned or opaque tights(maybe black sheer ones with polka dots). Makes it look like you did it deliberately, rather than just couldn't be bothered to paint your toenails.

Butterbur · 17/10/2010 13:05

Tethersend, I can't get your Topshop links to cut and paste (and work). Can you tell me which shoes you were looking at? They've got quite a range actually. I'd never have thought of looking there.

I sense an animal print theme going on here. DO you think it's a bit too Corrie barmaid? I'm 53, and not sure I can carry it off.

Matsikula - I also couldn't get your Jigsaw link to work.

Topshop links are driving me insane. I have asked MN why they don't work and they have no idea. Is this happening to anyone else?

They are called GABRIELLE METAL HEELED SHOES, item code 32S28XRED

Matsikula · 17/10/2010 15:15

....and the Jigsaw website doesn't seem to be working at all. If you look under 'heels' on the website, they are called something like 'cracked gold party shoes' and there is also a picture of them on the main heels page. They've got a bit of a platform, fairly chunky heel, and an open toe, kind of like stripper shoes, but obviously, this being Jigsaw, quite subtle and classy.

Butterbur · 17/10/2010 15:23

Jigsaw site seems to have temporarily imploded.

Tethersend, what colour tights would you wear with red shoes? I love those.

OP posts:
TethHearseEnd · 17/10/2010 15:36

I would wear nude or black sheer tights. Or fishnets.
