If you find a garment you love do you buy more than one?

Or it is just a recipe for a dull wardrobe?

have done, usually t shirts and hard to find basics

Crazycow00slevin · 15/10/2010 17:25

I tend to though in different colours. If i found something i liked then shrunk it or lost it by mistake i would be gutted so yes if you love something then def buy more Grin

4plus1 · 15/10/2010 17:26

Sometimes I do this. Have bought trousers in multiple pairs when I find a good pair that are long enough and flattering. I think if its something that's a wardrobe staple its worth doing. It doesnt lead to a dull wardrobe as you wear different things with it.

TrillianSlasher · 15/10/2010 17:28

In different colours, yes. Not usually a repeat of the exact same item.

alfabetty · 15/10/2010 17:28

Yes, I have two pairs of identical boots in different colours, and if I find a plain top I like I buy several (for layering). But only for the basics.

EldonAve · 15/10/2010 19:38

thanks

Yep, although I'm not always sure it's a good idea!!

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 15/10/2010 20:08

Regularly. Especially things like jeans/tops etc. ie. timeless classics that get loads of wear. Possibly a different colour or whatever but I am seriously guilty of these. I even have the same shoes in different colours!

JaynieB · 15/10/2010 20:09

Yes - if I find trousers I like, I'll often buy a couple of pairs, but usually in different colours.

NothereisnobodylurkingbehindU · 15/10/2010 20:13

Yes I do in different colours. Have four identical bras in different colours and I plan to buy more and I'm waiting on delivery of another colour Boden top Grin

NothereisnobodylurkingbehindU · 15/10/2010 20:14

Oh and two identical pairs of sandals in differnt colours as well....

CaptainNancy · 15/10/2010 20:21

I do if it fits like a dream and I love it... the spare is great so I'm not heartbroken when the first one is worn out.

I am wearing 10yo Gap trousers today, that I have 2 pairs of and look fantastic still.

orienteerer · 15/10/2010 20:22

Yes

VegasVicky · 15/10/2010 20:47

Yes, sometimes exactly the same & sometimes in a different colour.
When i do it's normally something that I've been looking to buy for ages - just to make sure I've got one for the future!!
If i could just find a great pair of jeans i'd buy about 10 pairs!!!!!!! :)

mathanxiety · 15/10/2010 20:58

Yes, bras that fit well, and jeans in different washes but same size and brand.

applecrumbleandcream · 15/10/2010 21:32

No I don't usually with clothes, I like to have different things to chose from to wear in a morning (not that I've got much!) but, saying, like other ladies I tend to buy a couple of the same bra if it fits me well but usually in different colours.

onepieceoflollipop · 15/10/2010 21:33

bras usually.

Tops in the same style but different colour (basic T-shirt type tops)

EldonAve · 15/10/2010 22:01

right, I think I will see how the existing item washes before buying a spare

OP posts:
polyhymnia · 16/10/2010 10:38

Yes, a few basic T-shirts/ tunics. And bras - because it's hard to find an attractive and effective style in my size.

Also have more than one pair of the same style and colour in my favourite jeans. Have taken to numbering them in marker pen on the label so I don't wear same one all the time. A bit obsessive?

Also have a few Boden separates in different colourways - though generally prefer different styles but, again, because it's not that easy to find things that are my size and look good.

ValiumSkeleton · 16/10/2010 10:44

I recenlty bought a beautiful shirt dress in black that fitted beautifully and wasn't expensive - and they had it in olive too. I'm wishing I'd got the olive as well.. still kicking myself.

Good point about how it washes though. Hadn't considered that.

gorehaginhellsbum · 16/10/2010 11:07

Yes.
Good basics that last/wash well.
Jeans - as it's so hard to find a good fit.

When I can't choose between two colours sometimes I buy both. This has always proved to be a mistake though as I usually end up wearing one about 95% more than the other. Shame I'm so indecisive but I have learnt from this.

ValiumSkeleton · 16/10/2010 17:48

Went to H&M and bought the olive one as well today!

LouMacca · 16/10/2010 17:54

Yes.
Have bought 2 jackets (cream & black) from H&M and 3 different coloured striped tops from H&M this month. The jackets and tops co-ordinate and I wear with jeans/leggings/boots/pumps for a different look.

EldonAve · 17/10/2010 07:56

polyhymnia - love the numbering!

I don't do this very often. But I did find a dress I loved. Full silk dress cut to the knee and fitted me perfectly. It was bloody expensive but I loved it.
Then I went back to the same shop and they had the range in the sale and I bought two more Blush

Never regretted it though. They are just beautiful, I wear them a lot and I always get asked about them. I rarely get stopped in the street and asked where I got something but it has happened half a dozen times wearing these.

But I think doing it for everyday stuff often leaves me regretting it
