I used to have a Gap coat like this and need to find a replacement before the winter arrives.

It was pretty much like this:

Any suggestions - ideally a bit cheaper than the above Tommy Hilfiger one - or at least down filled if it's that sort of price? Uniqlo has one but the fabric is a bit too shiny for my liking.

Lands end one looking good -the chevron one. Is there stuff mail order only or is it stocked anywhere?

I used to have a GAP one circa 2004 ish in brown and probably the same one, by the description! I resurrected it last year and it's still going strong but am sick to death of it.

It hasn't stopped me buying this Land's End knee length one here for this winter though. Would rather had had the Sidney or Chevron but this was in the sale.

LE is not stocked anywhere as far as I know so it's mail order all the way.

In the end I bought a down-filled one at a baragain price (under £40 in the sale) from an equestrian/farming type shop. Can't remember the make but it doesn't look horsey IYSWIM, it looks quite like the North Face one that everyone seems to have

Tk Maxx have got several for sale at the moment online.The continental brands seem to have much nicer shapes then uk makes .

I got one today in Massimo Dutti for £110 - I love it and sounds similar to what you're looking for. I've looked at their website though and I can't see it on their collection page.

Also saw one in Ralph Lauren for £195 which was v warm & had fleece in the pockets, nice!

I think Massimo Dutti only have a small section of their stuff on the website.

Yes my beloved old one had fleece lined pockets which was fab.

Well I ordered the LE one on Thurs late eve and it arrived this morning. It was lovely - really good quality and super cosy but MAHOOSIVE.

I have returned it and asked for a size smaller but am worried even that will be too baggy (and it's the smallest size and I'm not exactly miniscule).

Fingers crossed it's okay though.

Oh no! I've just gone onto the website and there is NO smaller size. Small is the smallest.
I've already posted it back.What do I do?
I guess I need to contact them and over ride the exchange and ask for a refund then?

Zara have some lovely ones. A few online, many more colours/ styles in store

Massimo Dutti was black...about their sizing though, I had to get a medium even though I normally go for small or even xsmall, they come up pretty small.
