idea's for home amde halloween costume for my and dh......

i want to win the fancy dress competition at the halloween party dh and i are going to!!!! I know its about taking part etc but i would like to make a fab but fairly cheap costume any idea's???? I was thinking i could not put any make up on and go as a corpse but that would be too scarey!

How elaborate are you talking? Do u want to go as a double act type costume? Have a few good fancy dress books I can have a look for you.

A mummy, wrapped up in bandages? My brother did this and it looked ace.

Either 4plus double or single act, bandages seem's a good idea

I did a mummy Costume for ds but I made him a large egyptian collor and wrist bands out of cardboard. Sprayed them gold and stuck fake jewels etc on them. He also wore some gold lame over his head. He went as king tut but u could go a cleopatra or whatever suits.
Some couples ideas are- fred& whilma flintstone, easily made with some coloured faux fur & pair of those big furry slippers with a plastic club for fred.Tarzan and Jane is the same idea as flintstones just use faux leopard print.
Bill& ben, get large plastic pots and take the bottom out of them, glue gun foam around inside to keep pots on and then dress as bill& ben.
Charles the II and Nell Gwynne- dress made out of old curtain not forgetting a basket of oranges. Make huge wig for charles from wadding and spray brown, make lacy neck for shirt from doilys
