Really are the clothes worth the £££?

And would this www.karenmillen.com/Puffa-coat/Garments/karenmillen/fcp-product/903000055049 or

this

www.karenmillen.com/Graphic-stripe-gilet/Garments/karenmillen/fcp-product/903000055229

be worth the extremely high price tag?

Trying to convince myself that I don't really love them!!

Thanks Pink FF

and clearly I mean what do you think!!!

used to like them but I think they've lost their edge now
much nicer stuff about

cybbo · 14/10/2010 19:19

I never go in there. The window display either looks uber tarty or 'friend of the bride' at a naff wedding

tiredemma · 14/10/2010 19:21

My MIL always wears KM and looks amazing.

Heartsease · 14/10/2010 19:23

Agree with cybbo. And, although this is not a thought I have in general about KM clothes, the second item makes me think of Anneka Rice.

notyummy · 14/10/2010 19:25

I have to admit, I still like a lot of their dresses. I like the cut - generally flatters curces and is supportive.

But, I am not that keen on anything other than dresses. And you do have to pick and choose from the dresses - some are a bit WAGish.

traceybath · 14/10/2010 19:32

Back in the day when I had a job I used to wear a fair bit of their stuff.

However for years its been way too Footballer's Wifes but have actually seen a few bits in magazines that look lovely.

I like the coat a lot - looks warm and stylish.

APixieInMyTea · 14/10/2010 19:46

A couple years ago the stuff was gorgeous. I'm still trying to source a dress I had that was misplaced in various house moves....

Now, not so much although they do have a gorgeous coat that I want but it's £300. Not overly keen on anything else in the collection at the moment.

CerealOffender · 14/10/2010 19:47

it is a weird place. i see something i like and pick it up and there is a zip on the tit or some freakish studding.

GeekOfTheWeek · 14/10/2010 20:17

My friend had one of the dresses on at a party and the whole zip came away.

It wasn't even a tight fitting dress.

KenDoddsDadsZombieDogsNotDead · 14/10/2010 20:19

Reiss and Whistles have far nicer stuff than KM these days.
Coat is lovely though and everything I have bought is decent quality.

BelligerentGhoul · 14/10/2010 20:21

I never go in there and think most of it looks quite tarty.

I'm sorry but that coat is horrible imho.

sandytoes79 · 14/10/2010 20:25

I used to work there for a while (going back 10 years) and I agree that things are cut well for curves. I would generally say that stuff from there falls into two camps- lovely and straightforward ie. some nice knitwear and coats, some good dresses, jeans cut well- or quite hideous and a bit mental-what-were-they-thinking. I like the coat you linked to. Things I've bought have been pretty good quality and lasted well. Whistles and KM are now owned by the same company and occasionally have similar things but Whistles stuff loads nicer in my opinion.

JustAnother · 14/10/2010 20:45

I love their dresses in general. They fit really well and sometimes I find items which are a little bit edgy and take me out of the boring office "uniform". Plus I find the quality quite good as well. The coat I bought 5 years ago still looks new. I don't like the style so much anymore, but otherwise, I would happily wear it every day.

minxofmancunia · 14/10/2010 21:01

One word

Liverpool

minxofmancunia · 14/10/2010 21:01

Or 2

Scouse Birds

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 14/10/2010 21:04

We have a KM outlet here - it's very footballers wives (2nd division) imo

catinthehat2 · 14/10/2010 21:07

It says Barbara Windsor as landlady of the Queen Vic.

I do not darken their doors.

And the pricing is INSANE.

Pinkflipflop · 14/10/2010 21:29

minx - you will have to elaborate!

I'm from N Ireland - so when you say Liverpool, is that good or bad?

Footballers wives.
Most definitely.
Over priced clubbing clothes for highlighted Wilmslow women.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 14/10/2010 22:01

They used to be nice.

Or have I just grown old?

notnowbernard · 14/10/2010 22:05

Yes I just walk past and think WAG

poorbuthappy · 14/10/2010 22:11

I never bought a lot from KM cos of the prices but bought the odd thing for a very special occasion...UNTIL...me and my sis worked out that when they started stocking size 16 (a few years ago i think?) all they did was resize the 14s to 16s. We checked this with some older KM stock which my sis had in her wardrobe vs the new size 16s.
It really pissed me off because I can remember them making a big deal out of stocking the "average" sized clothes for us normal women which turned out to be a big fat lie!

Meglet · 14/10/2010 22:12

Cheap and nasty.

I thought that 10 years ago too.

I used to like Morgan Hmm.
