No shops around here so want to buy on net. I know I can send back but would be great to get it right first.

Is XL really my size? Is L mainly 14?

I think their coats come up big as they're meant to be worn with layers underneath.

I'm a size 10/12 on top and have a north face coat in medium which I would say is more a 12/14. I have a north face hoody fleece which I would say is small for a large- maye a 10.

Which coat is it?

Lauren or Grace

I think NF are quite true to size.
I bought a S and am a size 10/12 on top. It was too snug with no room for a cardigan underneath. They didn't have any M (my first choice, obviously) so it went back.

I would be leaning towards the XL personally if it's padded.

The knee length style? Mines just a waist length one. I'd probably say a medium is a 12/14 and a large is a 14/16 but if never tried a knee length one on so can't say for definite. I would say that the grace & Lauren look quite fitted so maybe go bigger rather than smaller?

My dh is after the mcmurdo which Is a parka style one. According to the north face size guide his measurements are between a large and a medium but in actual RL he only needs a small as its designed to be worn with lots of layers.

I have the knee length coat and would suggest L but to be honest, I would also suggest you go and try one on.

I tried one on in Blacks but then ordered it on line and got a cheaper deal.
