Where can I find a nice winter coat?

I have finally thrown out the H&M one that has seen me through the last four winters. Even DH agreed it was too shabby to wear and he's had his winter coat since 1996 (approx).
I don't want black or camel, I want a colour - green, blue or purple - to cheer me up. I'm a size 14, pale, reddish-brown hair, hour-glass shape (huge norks) so it needs to be single-breasted with a waist, otherwise I just looked like somebody rolled me up in a blanket and tied it with string.
I live in the sticks so mail order is good.
Budget is £100ish.
I've been searching for weeks and not found nanything so any help will be gratefully received.

Double breasted but otherwise fits your brief

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 13/10/2010 14:12

It's lovely. Great colour. But not sure about effect of DB and funnel neck on 34G norks.
Thank you though - I never knew you could shop TK Maxx online - that's fantastic.
I have trawled through John Lewis, Debenhams, M&S etc to no avail. Why are so many coats black?

Sorry no experience with G size norks Grin
I think they only added online shopping for all products recently...I am a bit excited about it too!
Have you checked Ted Baker, they used to do a bit more colourful coats in the past

WhatsWrongWithYou · 13/10/2010 14:35

I'm a 32F hourglass (size 12) and have just bought this (will probably remove the corsage).

Don't think it's wearable with skirts unless they're mini, though.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 13/10/2010 14:38

Meant to say, coats are a nightmare with boobs.
There's also this at bravissimo.

Bonsoir · 13/10/2010 14:46

Asos - pages and pages of lovely coats!

sapphireblwhooooo · 13/10/2010 16:05

I'm also large of nork (38G) and need a new coat. I think my plan is going to be to hit the shops and just try loads on. I've tried a few already but need a bigger size to fit my norks in and then end up with a coat that is too big everywhere else Sad

You definitely don't want double breasted and you need something you can leave open at the neck to create a kind of V neck IYSWIM.....buttoned up to the throat just makes them look even bigger Grin

Last time I bought a coat I was 2 dress sizes smaller and a 36D.......

WhatsWrongWithYou · 13/10/2010 17:01

Thanks to Bonsoir, I looked at Asos and found this for the big of nork.

dontrunwithscissors · 13/10/2010 17:10

I'm in a very similar situation to you - Bravissimo have just added this to their site. 'Tis perfect, me thinks (if a weeny bit over your budget). I'm certainly about to order one....

dontrunwithscissors · 13/10/2010 17:12

PS I'm a size 10/12 and a 30GG so know your pain....

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 13/10/2010 19:24

Some great suggestions there but as luck would have it the two coats that tick all the right boxes - singlebreasted, knee-length, nork-friendly, colour - are red and magenta. And those are colours that look hideous on me. Think Santa Claus after several too many glasses of sherry. That's how I look in red/pink shades. Not attractive.
Bangs head on keyboard and weeps.

That Bravissimo coat would be perfect in blue, or green or purple though. Do you think they'd run up a special order for me?

brimfull · 13/10/2010 19:28

what about the marks one I linked to in purple?

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 13/10/2010 19:29

By this time next year, I'll be saying come to me with my new designed by me range.....

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 13/10/2010 20:32

Actually, that's really nice ggirl, but is it warm do you think? It says machine washable polyester which makes me think maybe it is quite lightweight.
Sorry, I'm being really picky, aren't I?

OP posts:
brimfull · 13/10/2010 20:33

hmm yes. hadn't noticed the fabric

dontrunwithscissors · 13/10/2010 20:38

Ahh, sorry about the Bravissmo one! I must have pretty much the opposite colouring (v.v. pale and pasty.)

brimfull · 13/10/2010 20:43

this is nice

brimfull · 13/10/2010 20:46

hobbs

brimfull · 13/10/2010 20:49

teal?

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 13/10/2010 21:13

That teal one is perfect, ggirl. A bit over my budget, but I'm very tempted.

My ideal coat Max Mara but waaaay too expensive. And luckily, sold out in my size.
Anyone seen anything similar?

That's gorgeous!
Don't know how you feel about checks but this looks good for a womanly shape.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 14/10/2010 22:13

And this - LA again - not sure if the length's a bit frumpy though.
