Baby gro-bag/sleeping bag thing??

Hi all.
Just wondering if anyone has used those sleeping bag/ gro-bag (sorry not sure what they're officially called) things that babies can wear to bed? We got bought one for our 4 month old and it looks really cosy. Only, I'm not sure if you put clothes on baby underneath it, and if so how much clothing. Or if baby also needs a blanket? And should we wait til weather starts getting really really cold before using it? It looks snuggly and warm but I don't want him to get too hot :/ I obsessively worry about cot death enough as it is!

Any advice would be great! Thanks for reading :)

My girls only wore vests when i used these sleeping bags. When it got colder they still only wore vests, just long sleeved versions. :)

If you've got a grobag it should come with a guide to what layers to wear underneath. it depends on the tog rating (and how cold the room is!). Or look it up on the grobag site. Doesn't matter if yours is not a grobag, you just need the tog rating.

DD just wears pjs at the moment, when it gets colder I'd put a vest on underneath. She's 2. In summer it was a vest or t-shirt plus 1 tog grobag.
