M&S - rubbish online service - anyone else?

moragbellingham · 11/10/2010 18:16

Today I only received 2 out of my 5 online ordered items even though they were all in stock.
I know other stores are rubbish for this but I didn't think M&S was.

Customer services advised that it was better to used nominated delivery to ensure the items were (in my hot, sweaty hands before anyone else)despatched more quickly.
Obviously this costs extra.

I'm cheesed off!

I've always found them quite good. Packaging can be a bit bashed but the stuff gets here.

cocolepew · 11/10/2010 18:20

I've just ordered online. Bugger.

I know where you shop.

I am very annoyed with M&S today.

I ordered soem PJs which were described as "Long Sleeved Double Layer Pyjamas". The picture clearly showed a top and bottoms, and described it as a 2 piece set. So I ordered, expecting a whole pair of PJs... but when they arrived it was just the top (which has 2 layers, hence the "2 piece"). I went back online and they have changed the description and the photo to make it less misleading so they must have had several complaints.

I also ordered a cardi/cami/scarf set which described itself as "3 piece" but when I got it the scarf was attatched to the cardi at the neck and at the side seam at the bottom, so it wasn't 3 piece. Also the material of the cami and the cardi didn't match. That went back as well.

Not a happy bunny!

I'm STILL waiting for DD's dressing gown to arrive after 8 days and it was due to be here in 5 days. Our local M&S has a tiny section which is annoying so I couldn't even go into the shop to buy it. Oh well.

TheNextMrsDepp · 11/10/2010 20:03

Haven't had a problem with M&S deliveries myself; I usually have them sent to local store as I'm too tight to pay the delivery charge.

Nowhere near as good as Next for speed, though - I just placed an order 10 minutes ago and it'll be in my hot sweaty hands by tomorrow midday. Using the free delivery code from MN, of course.....

teej · 11/10/2010 20:03

Not quite S&B but we ordered a blackout blind from M&S for DS' bedroom and they sent the wrong size Biscuit

Lastyearsmodel · 11/10/2010 20:04

Yes! Placed order, all in stock, order arrives, half missing - no explanation, no apology. Emailed customer service and received half-arsed apology.

This is customer disservice on a par with ELC - not impressed.

Meggles76 · 11/10/2010 20:16

I have had problems with items not being as described.
Also tried to use the nominated day service and then got an email saying they couldn't deliver on that day. Poor.

blushingm · 11/10/2010 20:45

i've had a strange thing today - i ordered some stuff. Half arrived today via home delivcery, the rest is coming by royal mail.........why not send it all together - would make much more sense...............plus I ordered it last tuesday

I've found them very slow. When some retailers can send out an order the same day, and it can be in your hands the following day, why does M&S take at least 5 days?

I think they're resting on their laurels a bit.

SoupDragon · 12/10/2010 12:10

Recently, i ordered some school uniform for DD from M and S in the morning and Debenhams at 230 pm. the Debenhams order arrived whilst I was out on the school run the next morning! The M and S order never arrived until I chased them about it after a week and they said there'd been a mistake and would resend it. It arrived about 5 days after that.

sapphireblwhooooo · 12/10/2010 12:41

you've just reminded me that I bought a dress for DD in the m&s sale a week ago and it hasn't turned up.......

The big retailers always seem to take ages to send orders out. If I order something from an independent I very often get it the next day, yet a huge company like M&S or Debenhams can take over a week.

Jcee · 12/10/2010 12:59

Previously I've found them to be fine, however I ordered some stuff in the sale at the start of last week and so far I have received 1 of the 6 items and my order seems to be split across 4 parcels sent by royal mail...rubbish...

moragbellingham · 12/10/2010 13:27

Sale items tend not to appear I've learnt.

I normally order and pick up instore and even then it takes 5 long working days.
I like to open it instore as I've twice had completely wrong items.

Funnily enough, I've just emailed them to ask where my sheepskin gilet I ordered at the end of Sep has got to - the boots I ordered at the same time came a couple of days later, but I've not even had an email to tell me the gilet's out of stock...

Speckledeggy · 12/10/2010 22:59

Not great.

I ordered some boots to be delivered instore then had to wait for almost 30 minutes while they tried to find them. Three times the assistant came out to say she didn't think they had been delivered and suggested that they ring me when they find them. Er no... I have come into town especially to collect them. The 30 minutes cost me another hour in the car park.

Agree that M&S are resting on their laurels these days. I used to work in M&S on a Saturday and we used to have double the amount of staff compared to today. Ooh, listen to me - Granny Annie!

jemw · 12/10/2010 23:10

Problems here as well, ordered boots and polo neck jumper online and paid extra for specified delivery day - day before delivery day got an email saying they couldnt deliver and would get delivery costs refunded...got a new day advised 4 days later, delivery times meant to be 7:30am to 7:30 pm I think...stayed in all day, turned up at 8:15pm! wrong jumper delivered....(but the boots were v nice, as recommended on another MN thread Smile ....)

Oumasrusks · 13/10/2010 07:13

I've always had problems with sale items suddenly becoming out of stock and just not being delivered.

I ordered some non-sale items last week and chose nominated delivery which they've just changed to standard delivery and haven't informed me why!

I've complained numerous times about this poor service and they don't do anything about it.
