Boots and coat - please forgive ignorance

As title says, i'm sure this is really stupid q, but i really have no idea when it come to style/fashion, please help me! I got a new black military coat on friday (from...erm...asda), and also bought some new boots yesterday. Will no doubt be wearing both most days over the winter, but i'm worried they won't go now, as the boots are brown and rusticy - they are here. Please don't laugh at me - i have horrible feeling they look awful together now!

I have those boots, very comfy by the way.

I wore them yesterday under jeans with a knee legnth black trench coat and it looked ok I think.

I just made sure my handbag matched the boots.

I do have a brown blazer style jacket to wear with them if I'm wearing the boots over jeans/with skirt and tights though.

Thanks :) i do have a brown battered leather handbag, that could work. However i think my boots will nearly always be over my jeans, so maybe won't work with coat...

Thats the one. It was on TV adverts, so i know every bugger will have one, but i just don't care, it fits me so well!

It's lovely :) IMO it will look fab with the boots, especially with a nice brown bag. Now what about a scarf?

No scarf with black coat as is sort of funnel neck, but thinking chunky white scarf with other coat (sort of neutral-y colour)?
