Barbours!

Has anyone bought a new Barbour this autumn? If so, which one and is it warm enough for a cold winter's day?

My last experience of a Barbour must've been 20 years ago - the classic waxed jacket. There really wasn't any warmth in it.

I love the look of the Cameron and see they now also have a Parka.

If you've bought one, would you mind telling me about it!

Thanks

Gotta do school run, then DDS's bday party (16 kids and praying it's not going to rain Hmm) ... back later Grin

I was just about to post almost exactly the same

Love the look of some of the Barbours but how warm are they? Any advice from experienced Barbour wearers welcome.

I had a ladies utility jacket for my birthday, I will wear it for work and shopping but it isn't exactly cozy - you can buy a quilted liner I think, looks good though and I love it to pieces.

I am a big barbour fan Grin

I bought the amelia last year and just bought a badminton this season. Cant do a link but the one OI have is also on ebay BNWT ladies 12 BARBOUR waterproof jacket 2010 £189.95

They are thin, but quilted if that makes sense. I'm the type who doesnt do cold, but I find these coats perfect, especially if active walking out and about. And you can wash them too, which is always a bonus.

DH has a wax one. Not the long style its quite short and modern, BUT it smells a bit outdoorsey to me, and you cant wash it.

I also have a baker boy hat and wellies GrinThe wellies are soooo comfy, they have a padded insert. Luxury !

barbours smell realy really bad. catch in the throat and stop the breathing bad.

RunforFun · 08/10/2010 16:20

Just the wax ones Ferris.

The waterproof and breathable ones dont have any smell.... unless you fall in something stinky.

Maryqueenofchocs · 08/10/2010 16:22

I have the ladies International jacket.

international jacket

its gorgeous, not warm on a snowy day however dry on a wet and windy one..Grin

I have the same one as Mary - 'tis very practical.

FerrisBueller · 08/10/2010 16:38

ah- am on hefty pankillers so not entirely rational.

mrsshackleton · 08/10/2010 17:08

mary and hf doesn't your bum get cold?

mangoandlime · 08/10/2010 17:28

I have a purple padded International..It is truly loverly, warm enough for a cold Autumn day, but then I do get warm rather quickly. None of that smelly wax business either.

blossoming · 08/10/2010 18:43

I have the cameron and it is warm and covers bum. Sort of tunic length. Much as I love it, it won't do for torrential rain, I wear a landsend stadium squall for these days, but it does have a quilted lining so too warm right now. Don't know about midwinter unless you wear a chunky knit underneath. My dh said I look stylish in it. High praise indeed.

hf128219 · 08/10/2010 19:03

You know I don't think my 'bum' does get cold actually. Maybe it's to do with my built in insulation?! Smile

Millie1 · 08/10/2010 20:46

Hmmm ... some of the jackets mentioned are really nice but longer length appeals. Wish I could get to a shop with a good range in-store. Sigh. Quite fancy one at some stage as the CDC trench I bought is not everyday wear and my Crew quilted jacket has served me well but for a looong time. Hmm

sleepwhenidie · 08/10/2010 21:14

I want the parka! Should be no bum chill and great for pushing buggy in the rain!
