Do Ugg Boots give?

I feel really bad, my mum is a 4.5 and I just went to the states and bought her a pair in that size. Shes telling me that they are "snug". What a waste!! Im sure I read somewhere to order a size down from your usual size.

they are usually exact.. mine havent really given

Wags · 06/10/2010 14:12

I got some cheapy lookalikie ones for DD and on the box it says to buy them a snug fit as the 'sheepskin' will flatten. But I have a feeling it was mentioned as the proper Uggs dont do this. You did get the US size equivalent of a 4.5 didn't you? Sorry if that sounds obvious Wink

moragbellingham · 06/10/2010 14:17

American sizes are one size bigger than UK sizes although I thought that Uggs weren't from the US so it shouldn't be the case??

I have Emus and my toe used to touch the front of the boot and now it doesn't. Mine did give a bit once the sheepskin gets flattened a little insideSmile

I have a pair sent from Australia from SIL, label says to get snug fit as they will flatten. Also says recommended to be worn without socks!

Wags · 06/10/2010 14:22

Of course, forgot they are Australian. Just looked at a conversion and it seems from that a UK 4.5 would be an Australian 5.5 so hope thats not the case with these ones!

kittya · 06/10/2010 14:29

no on the lable it has the sizes for uk, us and Australia. My mum is usually a 4. Ive told her to take her socks.

well, she is a 4 and I get her a 4.5. I feel so guilty!! I think if she takes her socks off and wears them around the house for abit, they will give. I bought them in the states for $138, I think that was a good price. On reflection, I probably shouldve got some myself as well.

Same as I shouldve got more than two pairs of Levis!! oh, well. Cant have regrets!!

I'm sorry, she sent them as a gift for my Christmas, so I don't know how much it cost. I am a 4, I'll check the size when i get home.

kittya · 06/10/2010 17:58

could you have problems with customs if you get them posted from abroad?

They do give a bit when they have been worn as all the fluff squashes down. I have a couple of pairs and slippers and all of them feel bigger now than when I bought them.

kittya · 06/10/2010 22:06

Ive got a feeling they will give abit if not, she will have one happy grandaughter!!

I've found that the sizing on different styles of Uggs does vary... but snug is good or they will be too big before long. You could always get them stretched at a local shoemender if they don't give enough - I have done this a few times with different shoes/boots.

kittya · 06/10/2010 22:29

I think its her bloody bunions!!

OP posts:
hobbittoes · 07/10/2010 09:21

I am a uk 4.5 and the uggs I have from the states say us size 6, have worn them a lot and the pile has flattened, they started snuggish and now they are perfect Smile

katiepotatie · 07/10/2010 20:21

No probs with customs as they are marked as a gift, this is only a problem with purchasing from abroad apparently. Sorry can't find a size on boots, it was on the label which is now binned.

scratchmyback · 07/10/2010 20:56

they will definately give. Mine were snug to the point of hurting when I bought them - now they are a lot bigger, almost too big!

kittya · 08/10/2010 09:51

thats good to hear. I will tell her to do the hoovering in them until they give abit!!
