I need work trousers for the first time in 10 years

Have been in uiform for years and had my first day in a non uniform role today, I wore jeans and it was politely suggested that I shouldn't. Oooops.

So I went to Next after work and tried some trousers on and then remembered why I never buy jeans from there as the fit is awful. I then went in New Look and nothing at all.

I need Petite.

I've looked at the m&s website and it seems to be full of horrible polyester type trousers. So where can I go, no Zara, Jigsaw or Gap round here.

Also do people wear bootleg trousers for work, I know for jeans people are wearing straight or skinny fit now but m&s seemed to be full of bootlegs.

You can get straight black trousers - almost like cigarette pants.

this is what you need.

Now Gap are online - hurray!

Thanks, didn't know that Gap were online now, that's good news!

I love the Gap true straight black trousers but they are really long - I'm tall, and I find them quite long. So I don't think they'd work for a petite.

I've got these in the charcoal pinstripe from M&S - they look ghastly in the photo but are very nice (and much less bootcut) in rl! And they come in different lengths.

Try asos

alarkaspree · 06/10/2010 16:26

Gap trousers come in different lengths though. You can get regular, long or 'ankle' (polite way of saying shortarse. I have 'the perfect trouser' in ankle length.

aStarInStrangeways · 06/10/2010 16:27

That's good to know alark - I covet those perfect trousers but am also a shortarse.

alarkaspree · 06/10/2010 16:32

Well tbh ankle length is still too long for me. But it's a start!

VivaLeBeaver · 06/10/2010 16:36

I see that Gap come in different lengths but they only seem to have smaller sizes available on their website. The size 14s/16s are sold out. Will go to m&s at the weekend maybe.
