I have just purchased my first pair of leggings and too embarassed to ask any of my trendy friends- Do all tops you wear with them have to cover your bum or is a tiny bit on show the norm?

Obviously dont want to go around town looking at womens arses all day but really need to know before I look like an idiot or irrationally restrict what I wear it with!

If it helps I am size 12 and 5'8"

Any advice would really be appreciated as I am going through a complete image change and dont want to look lke a clueless idiot (which I quite obviously am!)

With leggings no matter what size you are your front bum should always be covered in my opinion Grin

theslumbertaker · 02/10/2010 18:58

well i gues it depends whether you like your bum or not. i would only wear bum-covering tops with leggings as my bum is a bit fat generous. i think tops def need to come lower than the waist band on the leggings though, otherwise you are risking a opretty unattractive 80s look...

theslumbertaker · 02/10/2010 18:59

agreed apple99 Grin hadn't thought of that. wouldn't want a camel toe would you?!

ebojones · 02/10/2010 19:00

I think anyone over 25 really should cover their bottom (front and back)!

Heartsease · 02/10/2010 19:04

I don't really like seeing anyone's bottom, front or back, in leggings. It's not a matter of pertness, I just find it weirdly naked and like going out in tights. Maybe I am just very square!

ok..you firstly need to buy good 'quality' leggings..primarni just wont do unless you want major cellulite and see through scaryness..I also agree the bottom and front should be covered...usually a tunic type shirt/dress is flattering and also safe no unsightly camel toes or VPLs..it can also look very sexy yet demure with the right boots and confidence...

EddiesTeddy · 02/10/2010 19:24

Thanks for the advice everyone I will make sure everything is well and truly covered when I wear them!

mumcentreplus fret ye not, they are good quality ones so I am (hopefully) not going to get arrested for indecency, and I have nice pair of knee length boots to go over the top of them.
