hiya, am really struggling to find a nice warm winter coat as its a bit chilly now and my last years coat already doesnt button in the middle. eek and am only 13 weeks. bit worrying actually. anyway i've looked onlne and in shops and theres just nothing nice. would prefer not black, maybe navy or cream and maybe like a duffle coat or smart coat type but not a parka. can anyone help? (will also post in pregnancy but wanted to ask here too)

Whyh not go for a cape ? They are in this winter, and I've got a nice one from ASOS, but have also seen a lovely one in Reiss

I got a lovely, short navy maternity duffle coat in Topshop last year.

Can't see one on their website but am positive I saw one in the store last time I was in. IIRC it was very similar to last year's.

Hope you find something and congratulations!

It was the one at Glasgow Fort - not sure if you're in Scotland or not?

But I guess any of the bigger stores would have it. You could call first?

I got a swing style coat when I was pregnant, it was ideal as there was plenty room for growing bump and fitted afterwards too.

Haribolicious · 01/10/2010 00:45

I went for a swing style too. Definitely fitted better than something like a parka as it accommodated ever growing bump and as katiep said, it also fits now. It was also miles cheaper than a 'maternity' coat!!
Btw are you actually feeling the cold? I was 4/5 mths last winter and my body temp goes mad when pregnant so didn't need (or want! as I'd have melted!) a big heavy winter coat so a swing style was lighter but covered me up!

I saw nice looking coats in Mothercare, Oxford Street. Didn't investigate closely as I'm not preg but thought they looked great!

MrsC2010 · 01/10/2010 12:17

I love this!

They have some really nice dresses...much nicer than when I was pregnant a few months back!

i just got a coat one size bigger than i usually wear, if you try them on and make sure they're not too big in shoulders etc. plenty of room for a bump and i didnt have to pay over the odds as some maternity coats are very expensive. im 21 weeks and showing quite a bit and it looks like it will do me when im even bigger.
