and they stocked "my sort of stuff".
Lauren Vidal, Mais Il Est ou le soleil, Sandwich, Noa Noa , etc, but also a French label La Fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx my mind goes blank.
I don't want to call them to find out 'cos they could barely look at me when i walked in, 3 staff and no-one says hello the whole time i was there, so i don't want to go back and give them my money. Would rather find a different stockist!!!

Cannot remember this partic label though - anyone know what i'm talking about?!!

i know you S&B queens will help me!!

psst - what was the shop??

OhCobblers · 30/09/2010 21:43

Cover Up in Sheen / Richmond !

honestly, one member of staff looked at me then walked straight past.
did anyone bother to say "hello, do you need any help?" - clearly they must be raking it in so don't need to offer a customer service!!! i hate places like that! however, they did have some nice stuff!

and i promise you i wasn't dressed as a bag lady!!!

Hi,

That's my local shop and I'm in there browsing at least once a week. They do have great clothes, and also nice funky, reasonably priced jewellery - and boots.

Can see what you mean about the staff, but I guess when I'm just browsing I'd rather be left to get on with it than pressurised - agree there is a happy medium, though. Obviously your experience didn't hit it!

On all the occasions I have asked for help they've been constructive in suggesting things, though not matey/ incredibly warm. Also been good on changing things, replacing for free a cheap pendant bought there several years ago, etc. And no, I really don't think I'm part of an exclusive E. Sheen 'clique' I think they're much the same to everyone.

Lauriefairycake · 30/09/2010 23:31

I've just browsed that french label online - nice stuff! No prices but they have a fabulous coat in charcoal.

what sort of prices are they?

PotPourri · 30/09/2010 23:33

Ooooh, you should do just like Pretty Woman and walk in with lots of bags and do the "Big Mistake....huge speech"!!!!!!!!!!

OhCobblers · 01/10/2010 13:42

Polyhymnia : know what you mean about the browswing thing - i don't want to be constantly asked when i'm just browsing.
But there was only one person shopping/buying : 3 staff (one must have been the manageress or/and owner) around and not once do i get "can i help you" or "are you happy just broswing"?. I cannot believe that staff in a shop like that don't see the logic behind being friendly when you walk through the door.
They had amazing stuff in there, i agree, but i really would rather find somewhere else to shop - somewhere that values my custom (particularly as they're not cheap clothes) because they really weren't interested!

However, it was also like that in 2 other shops in the same stretch (one oppos and one practically next door) so maybe it was what i was wearing?!!!

LFC - not cheap - don't know about the coat but minimum prices i think were £80 - £90 for a top.

Ohcobblers - don't blame you at all for moving on and do know exactly what you mean about their attitude. Guess I've just got used to it because they're so close and such a great source of reasonable and unusual necklaces (usually ca. £20, cheaper than, eg, Hobbs,) and have actually provided service when asked.

Really sorry you experienced that at 2 other shops in Sheen too - must have given you a v poor impression. We're really not all rude.

Not sure what shops you mean - but there is one achingly trendy and v expensive clothes shop on same side where I don't venture because clothes too small for me. Opposite, know of an underwear shop and a sort of sporty wear shop where I usually get my Fitflops and have found both those v. friendly so perhaps not the ones you mean. Hope not.

OhCobblers · 01/10/2010 20:57

i think the one on the same side was called Alice and George?
and the other had Ruby in its name - very small and mainly boots and shoes but a few racks of similarly nice clothes to the other shops.
real shame as i drive that way fairly often and have always meant to drop in - finally had some time this week!!
ones hopes i just caught them ALL on a bad day Smile

Mmm, have only browsed Alice and Goerge (and been to beauticians in basement who are fine)- I'd have said more eccentric than unfriendly, usually.

Know Ruby Blue - not impressed - think they're closing/ moving anyway. Believe they originally had some connection with Sheen Uncovered, the underwear shop, which is nice. And had a helpful woman in when first opened but, as often the way of these things, staff have changed.
