Pram suit or coat?

DS is 6 months. He currently wears a fleecy lined hooded jumper as a coat, which seems to work well, and he has the footmuff on the pushchair to keep his legs warm.

For winter, should I be looking at buying a pram suit or just a coat? I was thinking a pram suit, but then a friend of mine suggested that a coat might be best, as he's quite wriggly and is on the cusp of crawling.... He's also a big baby (currently in 9 month clothes), so if I bought a pram suit/coat now it wouldn't do through the winter. When do you think he'll definitely need to wear one?

I live in Belgium by the way, so the weather's about the same as the South East UK, maybe a little colder in Winter.

I do prefer to have little ones in pram suits really, so much more warm and comfortable. DS was a June baby and quite happy in his last winter. In the buggy a coat and foot muff is OK but a coat on the bike a coat is just so chilly.

DS in a 74 ATM? If so I'd have thought an 86 should last him through the winter. If he's already in an 80 I think you'd have trouble getting a pram suit to last through, I've never seen one in a 92 anyway. Starting off two sizes too bug should give ample room for growth. There's really no need to but one in each size.

I've had those JoJo Polartec all in ones in lots of different sizes, they got far more use than coats when my twins were small (they're 2 now and will be in them this winter). Great for cold days inside as well as out in the buggy/car seat. And very easy to move in compared to stiff pram suits. Would really recommend.

second the jojo ones they are light and flexible enought for babies on the go, but very cosy still i had them every winter, sadly they don't do a 3-4yr otherwise i'd ahve them again this year.

Really you need both tbh. for shopping a coat should suffice under footmuff but when really cold or longer walks a snowsuit is nice to have as well. deffo jojo!
