HELP what to wear to a wedding?

I am sure this must have been asked before but I can't find any easy answers.

I would never usually post here although I do like to lurk and read through the threads.

I basically an very much a trousers type of person and could actually ask so many questions here to develop some style Blush

However, my immediate need is what to wear to a friend's wedding in about 10 days time. This is an old friend from Uni and is going to be the first time we, and a few other Uni friends, have seen each other since graduating 10 years ago! (Some of us have seen each other separately but not all and certainly not altogether.)

At Uni I was a size 8. Ten years and 2 children later I am now a size 12 (with size 14 hips!). I am 5'7" and have several 'problem areas:

  • wobbly post-baby belly (DD2 is now 20 months old!)
  • fat calves
  • fabulously pale skin
  • knobbly knees

Please offer suggestions - on a budget not over £50.

The wedding is in the afternoon and then there is the evening do. Is it separate outfits for each? What would work?

Thank you for any ideas.

Same outfit should be fine, I have never changed for the evening do.

If you don't like your calves/knees then it is probably a just below knee length dress with tights?

Heels should make your calves look thinner so they are a must have!

this could look lovely with a black cardigan/jacket and black tights'heels

this is a bit more colourful and would look good with dark heels and tights

Ooh I like both of them! I rather fancy seeing if I can go to the mainland tomorrow to go to John Lewis. I wonder what that lovely blue would look like - although I could possibly do the other one as I already have a black cardigan and heels.

Also, good to hear there will be no changing required!

(and have just asked 4 year old DD1 which she likes... her reply "When are you and Daddy going to get married?" Grin

Alternate ideas still welcome!
