Patent rain hat - yay or nay

Just had DD2 and am out with the pram a lot. Am trying to avoid the 'sensible outdoor raincoat that you'd wear rambling' look (practical though it may be) as it will age me about 20 years.

I saw a woman today wearing one of these today. It would go with all of my autumn weight coats and, although giving me hat hair, would at least keep my bonce dry. What does the MN jury think? Stylish or S&M flowerpot man?

I've been looking for a rain hat too.
Every time I try and cross the road my hood doesn't move and I have to take it down!

The best solution I've found is to wear a knitted wool hat. OK the hat gets wet on the outside but my head doesn't and it stops rain running down my face to an extent as well. Has to be wool, not acrylic for its water repelling abilities, and obv not v loose knit Smile - beanie or similar.

Not great for being out all day in a downpour (what is?) but sufficient for the school run.
