wear skinny jeans with boots or leggings with a dress/tunic type top?

I am really stuck for things to wear over the winter and am bored senseless of my usual bootcut jeans with top combo

I really like the skinny jeans/leggings, long top and boots look. It looks stylish and comfy too which sounds perfect........but would I look like I was trying too hard to be stylish and just looking silly or would it look ok?

how big is big? Do you have good pins?

blushingm · 27/09/2010 21:34

not bad from the knee down but chunky thighs - about a size 20 and nearly 5'8 ish

I think there are more flattering styles than skinny. Maybe try a straight-leg

bananapeanutbutter · 27/09/2010 22:04

Yes for sure if wearing with boots and a long top/tunic. As someone said earlier, skinnies are only skinny from knee down really. If not wearing with boots however, definitely try straight leg instead. If you get the right pair you can also tuck into boots.

I'm a size 20 and wear dress/leggings/boots. I tend to avoid the shorter tunics which stop mid-thingh and go for dresses which are closer to the knee IYSWIM.

I hope I don't look too awful in them, but to be honest I like it and that's what counts! Grin

I think it would look fine! Smile

DD's pre-school key worker is a bigger lady and always wears leggings with long tops. It sounds like it shouldn't look nice but she does. She doesn't tend to wear boots either (well I've only seen her in the warmer weather) she's always been in flip flops or pumps.

Those Next jeans are lovely and Next jeans usually tend to be a nice fit.

I am a size 16 occasionally and still wear skinnies the KEY is to wear boots which are quite clumpy which balance everything out. Do NOT wear ballet flats or normal shoes. Chunky knee highs only. Acessorise well. If the whole outfit looks good and put together then people won't notice it includes skinnies IYSWIM.
