How much time/effort do you spend on your looks?

Just out of pure nosiness Grin

I have always thought of myself as low maintenance because I don't go for any beauty treatments/pampering type things and can be out the door within 30 minutes of getting in the shower. But a friend said the other day that I must spend quite a lot of time on myself and it got me thinking.

So what I do:
Hair
cut by myself
dyed maybe two or three times a year (by me)
washed & conditioned mostly every day
usually blow dried but not styled.

Face
Washed and moisturised twice a day
Make up worn every day (quick 2 min application of foundation, blush, concealer, mascara, lip balm)
Scrub maybe once a week

Hair removal
Armpits shaved everyday
Legs shaved most days
Bikini line before it gets too unruly
Stray hairs plucked out of eyebrows and other places when I notice.

anything else
Body moisturised a few times a week, rarely every day
toe nails cut when needed, usually kept painted (though not very well)
perfume worn nearly every day
Oh and shower and use anti-perspirant daily.

Erm I think thats all (I do wear clothes too obviously but don't put a huge amount of thought into what I wear)

How about you?

pretty similar to you actually Grin

did get my nails done [fake, obv] as a treat last week, for the first time since we got married ten and a half years ago. Planning on going back to get a maintenance thing on them in another couple of weeks when I've ruined them completely

Bonsoir · 26/09/2010 17:29

I have a bath and hairwash every morning, and I exfoliate all over and moisturise the critical bits (legs and neck and arms) most days. And use face cream, and style my hair.

Once a week or so I have a maintenance session for epilating (legs/underarms), waxing (bikini line), eyelash dying, pedicure, manicure - but I won't do all of these at every session. And I do go and have a professional wax and pedicure from time to time (and would like to do so more often but don't find the time).

I have my hair cut once every six weeks.

I spend about two minutes putting on make-up every day, and about two minutes removing it.

I am liking the sound of epilating only needing doing once a week bonsoir, does it hurt?

Bonsoir · 26/09/2010 17:34

I've been epilating for 25 years and no, it doesn't hurt - you can watch TV while doing it, too!

AttackedbyNinjaPeas · 26/09/2010 17:42

Sounds good, which epilator do you have? (and is there a reason why you don't epilate bikini line?)

Hair: cut, um.... about every six months at the most Blush but it is curly and quite long and I don't use a lot of heat on it so the ends don't get mashed.

  • wash every other day ish (it is thick)

Nails: keep short, they grow like crazy. Sometimes paint them

Body: Shower every day and moisturise. Use fake tan sometimes in the summer

Body hair: depends entirely whether I'm in a relationship! If yes, then shave legs every other day and underarms every day. If no, underarms the same but legs dependent on whether I'm getting them out or not. Ditto bikini line. Tried epilating, but it hurt so much to start with and even after the first few times was just too much of a faff and didn't stay smooth that long.

Make up: undereye concealer is my only must. I am dark and have long lashes so no need for mascara. Lipgloss sometimes.

Bonsoir · 26/09/2010 17:47

I have a very old Braun epilator (only my third in 25 years). Braun is good brand, but there is lots of choice.

It doesn't really work on bikini line. And I love the smoothness of a bikini wax!

knobbingnowt · 26/09/2010 17:52

Shower hair wash everyday.

Shave when i can be arsed or wearing something that reveals the forest.

Hair cut every so often.

Moisturise face every day, legs if they are itchy and flakey.

Never wear make up, bite nails but do sometimes paint them.

Wish I was high maintenance, i just cant be arsed Blush
