I am currently doing a secondary PGCE and am starting my first secondary school placement shortly.
I am rather norkily endowed and, having been a SAHM for the last few years am used to living in comfy clothes, so I need smart stuff for school BUT what shoudl I be buying?
I mostly wear trousers but sometimes skirts,, but do I go for vest tops and cardy type thing, or what? And where do I find non low cut but not roll neck tops fora decent price so I am not flashing all the teenage boys I need to teach....!

Basically, what do you wear in school?

We have a new dresscode now and have to wear jackets (ffs) but before that I used to wear:
wide legged trousers, with a t-shirt or cami and a cardigan;
pencil skirt and v neck jumper;
type outfits.

Loads of places do scoop or round necked cotton tops for a tenner or less: M&S, H&M etc.

I would always avid having too much arm on show too, so tended to wear at the very least a short sleeved cardigan. Not so much of an issue now the weather has turned.

And be very, very careful that any trousers are not too low cut. have had to talk to a few PGCSE students in the past about flashing when they lean over!

whatever you feel comfortable in :)
seriously.
If you like your vest tops and cardis (so do I) you can always throw a scarf on to make sure you don't show off anything you don't want to. Good ol' dorothy perkins and new look are good for tops, imho. I use a lot of t-shirt style stuff and a nice scarf, trousers and comfy shoes Grin

Ooh, hadn't even thought about arse cleavage, thanks.
I think I am okay as most of my tops are long anyway but will get DH to help check outfits.
I am just cacking it after that thread the other day with teenage girls commenting on their teachers outfits!

One of my Yr 11 form told me that I looked lovely yesterday and that she wanted my entire outfit! I had to tell her that it was the 6th one I'd put on that morning after throwing a massive teen-style 'I have NOTHING to wear' strop. Blush

Wide leg trousers with top & cardi
Dress and pumps
Don't get too much till you've sussed the dress code in you placement school though

Good luck!

As a teacher would also definitely go with the above advice - vests and cardis are great and a lot more flattering than shirts, with a scarf in case you have a particularly hormone-y class.
You'll probably also find (as I have)that even if you feel a top may be a bit low or a skirt just above the knees, the female pupils walk about with so little on that you will always look very decent in comparison..
