Can anybody tell me where i can get comfortable flat warm boots that are also waterproof ? The Fly boots I had last year were lovely but my feet were wet and freezing all the time.

Clark's have some goretex lined ones, hang on:

Long

Short

I have also been wearing these DM boots in various colours for about 5 years and they are very warm and dry in wet weather. Not specifically waterproof, but good thick leather and well made.

I got Merrell Puffin Frost boots last year, they are very warm and shower proof/puddle proof. Not sure if they're totally waterproof if that's what you want as I didn't go through any streams in them. But I wore them every day walkign the dog in the fields and was fine.

I had Timberlands for three years until the zip broke last year.

Not the prettiest but not as ugly as Flys imo!

Do you have a costco nearby? I have a fab pair, which feel better than the triple-the-price North Face ones I bought earlier this year. They are about £35. Waterproof & warm to -20 (allegedly)

lovingthesun · 25/09/2010 19:45

Oooh, I likey the Clarks long boots

Are the puffins true to size Beaver? I'd love a pair if we have another snowy winter.

VivaLeBeaver · 25/09/2010 21:07

Hobbitoes - I normally am between a 5 and a 6, depending on shop and style. In the Merrell boots the 6 fitted better than the 5.

Thanks, more room for wooly socks!

WhatsWrongWithYou, which timberlands did you get - they look just what I am after, but I am wide of calf (about 37cm) and want something that will go over jeans, many thanks

I saw a very styish looking mum in the suffolk boot in a local pub recently. She was wearing them with a dress and they didn't look like real riding boots at all.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 26/09/2010 21:03

They don't sell mine any more, WT - they were pretty plain but with a strap and buckle across the front at the ankle - think they're sometimes called riding boots.

I never tried them with jeans tucked in - was pre-skinny jeans days for me, so can't answer for the calf width I'm afraid.

There was a link somewhere recently for another made-to-measure company besides from Duo. Will try to find it.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 26/09/2010 21:34

Here. No idea about waterproofness though.

wrigglytummy · 26/09/2010 21:41

Thanks for the link, have now fallen in love with some other timberlands....oops!

Ilse Jacobsen's wellies. They are so great I'm wearing them even when it doesn't rain - they have the softest cotton lining. Available in three different heights and a rainbow of colors. Love them!

Wide fit boots apart from Duo
