Any recommendations for an everyday above the knee skirt

to wear with woolly tights and boots (dark brown). Something not at all dressy. I've tried the Boden denim skirts but they give me a huuuuuuge tummy. Also, what sort of top would be best - jumper, jersey layers with cardy? Help!

I got a really nice cord one from uniqlo but not sure if they still do them - it's quite short but with thick tights and boots looks quite respectable! Also v cheap.

Thanks hitmouse - shall have a look.

Any other suggestions please?

Saw a couple in Kew I think the other day (it was JL hence why I'm unsure).

Kew have some short cord and moleskin skirts. As do Jigsaw. Gap as well.

Have been looking at Kew online, again, saw a nice one on Jigsaw's website but wasn't pushed on Gap. Guess i just need to do some ordering Grin

Was it the pink or grey moleskin one in Jigsaw on-line? They also do a Khaki one in the shop.

Millie1 · 24/09/2010 22:15

I liked the grey HF but when I looked in the shop their autumn stock wasn't in.

Pity this isn't a couple of inches shorter - it would look a bit grannyish with boots & tights, wouldn't it?

I bought the pink (Cherry?)one today!

Millie1 · 24/09/2010 22:28

It's lovely hf ... what will you wear with it? I love the colour - I wish I had the confidence to wear it! I think if I lived in the city I would Hmm but living in the country and being a denim person, I think people would do a double-take!

Oh - and is it lined?

OP posts:
hf128219 · 24/09/2010 22:40

No, it's not lined but the fit is lovely and stretchy. I will wear it with stripey tops and a cardigan and flat boots.

But you could dress it up with a blouse/jacket and heels.

The grey one is like an inky dark blue/charcoal. The khaki one is a dark green - that would have been my second choice.

MrsC2010 · 25/09/2010 14:49

Have you tried White Stuff? They have that sort of thing most winters.

here

Millie1 · 25/09/2010 15:20

Oh, that's not bad MrsC - thanks!

HF - it sounds fab - enjoy it! Am tempted by the charcoal tbh but moreso by a trip to the S.H.O.P.S. ... note to self, talk DH into a shopping trip! Grin

What do we think of this baby cord skirt? Grey isn't going to go with brown boots though.
