Big do tomorrow night, don't get much bigger. I have the dress, I have a jacket and/or a super bling shawl, will decide at the last minute on that. Either works. I have the shoes. Or so I thought. Just had final try on, and have decided I much prefer some other shoes, which is fine, almost, as I already have the other shoes.

BUT now means that the shoes I really want to wear are open toed. So I need to do toe nails. That is fine, I have time and I have the right colour.

However, open toes mean I can no longer wear the 'almost invisible' tights, which were going to cover a multitude of sins and horrors. Dress not down to the floor, it's kind of 3/4 length, so pale legs on show. Bugger. Self tan I hate, it never works very well and let's face it, i don't have time to do a few gos and get the right shade.

Also, it's going to be freezing and wet tomorrow, so open toes is just not practical, and a pair of sheers would be great. But big black tie do doesn't need practical, so sticking with the open toes...

WHAT DO I DO?????

How open are the toes? Peep toe or full on strappy sandal?

omaoma · 23/09/2010 13:19

Exactly how bright or empty might the venue be? Do a careful job pulling the toes of the tights under what you can of the shoes, and the lighting/drinking/crowding will make them invisible very quickly.

In my experience people really aren't looking at your feet

NellieTheEllie · 23/09/2010 13:20

you need these

jamaisjedors · 23/09/2010 13:23

Get some of that Sally hansen leg make-up stuff, it is fantastic, I have eczema and thread veins on my legs and it covers them and looks good.

Nellie I NEED THOSE!!!!!!!! Bugger, I can't get to JL by tomorrow. They can be delivered before 10.30am, but it's £9.95!!!

Oh crappety crap crap. I may have to bite the bullet.

Pretty open toe - can see all toes, but WIDE strap across would perfectly cover up the line across of those JL tights.

Oh, and we used to have a department store in town which would definitely stock that type of thing. But it closed. A year ago. Damn damn damn. Didn't realise such things existed! I don't go to big events or dress up very often, you can tell!

Am now trying to work out if I can create something like this.....

M and S near you?

NellieTheEllie · 23/09/2010 13:32

or Debenhams...?

anonymousbird · 23/09/2010 13:44

Yes to M&S and no to Debs. I have an M&S about ten miles away, but it is the world's worst usually, however, will call and see if they stock. It could be my life saver!!! Have time still to order the JL next morning delivery, but will try M&S first.

Thanks so much!

Went for the JL overnight order (at vast expense!). I am not spending any of my own money at this event tomorrow, so seeing as it my own fault for being so disorganised, the family finances will swallow the £9.95 delivery charge (though it reminds me that yet again, leaving everything to the last minute is NOT a good idea).

Nellie, you are a gem. Thanks. Smile

Grin enjoy your night out.
anonymousbird · 24/09/2010 12:09

Thanks Nellie.

I ordered them and they arrived, phew. I happened to be in Monsoon this morning, and they had something described as "Sandal toe tights" so checked with the assistant - are these the ones that go between your toes...? Yes, yes she said. So, I bought them as at that point, didn't know JL delivery had definitely arrived so thought, well, have these as a back up. Was then cross with myself for not even thinking of Monsoon yesterday when I had my panic.

Got home - opened the Monsoon ones first. They have no toe hole/no toe bar nothing. They are just regular tights!!!!

So, after cussing myself about possible waste of next morning delivery charge, I am now very relieved I did it!

So back to Monsoon on Monday to see how THEY think that normal tights go with Sandals!

Thanks again Nellie.
