Getting a social life back after DD2. What do you wear when you go out? Really need some help with clothes!

DH haven't been out together in years, but we've finally got some nights out planned over the next couple of months. The problem is my going-out wardrobe is absolutely non-existent, plus I'm older and wobblier than when we last had a social life (4-5 years ago, before having DD1.)

So what the heck does a 34 year old, curvy size 10/12 with big boobs wear? I want to look sexy, but in a I-realise-I'm-not-18-anymore way. Wink Also, I'm a lecturer so really don't want to risk looking like my students. Something to go to the pub in, and something smarter for a night out to see a comedian. Monsoon/Oasis type prices. Can I get away with wearing skinny jeans/boots and a cool top? I've yet to be forced out of my bootcut jeans. Any help/suggestions gratefully received! Smile

Ahh you see you could be asking the wrong person because I know a lot of people say bootcut jeans are dated, but if they suit you and they make you feel comfortable then don't chuck them just yet. Having said that, there's really no reason why you can't wear skinny jeans, as long as you're in proportion, or make yourself appear in proportion. You did say though that you have large boobs, so it can be tricky to wear skinny jeans and leggins unless you wear the right top to balance them out. You'll need to wear a long top with them but make sure that it kicks out towards the bottom of the top to balance out your top half. I recommend Next at the moment. Love it!! Hope this helps. Wink

Bootcuts are back so fear not Grin

However - what about a dress? I am loving dresses now am finally out of the constant pregnant/bf stage.

Also just feels that bit more dressed-up.

Good news about the bootcuts! Not sure about the skinnies. I've just bought this dress. Not sure about it, though.

I have just bought some expensive jeans and they have transformed my life. Well, almost. They fit! They look great! I am now convinced that spending money on jeans is like spending money on haircuts - you get what you pay for. This is increasingly important as my age advances and my bits get wobblier.

Ooh - care to share midnightexpress? What type are they?

They're Seven for all Mankind, straight cut. Which are quite narrow for a straight cut, but not skinny skinny, which I don't think would suit me. I got 20% off but still a bit eye-watering for someone who normally shops in H&M Grin. DP found the receipt and has kept it so he can get it out and go Hmm every now and then. I'm thinking of having it framed for him for Xmas.

I'll second the vote for decent jeans. I have just bought some skinny Levis which fit really well and make me feel like I can go out into society again Grin (I'm also just getting a life back after DC2).

Can't find a decent top to go with them, though, so I'm watching this space for any good tips. I've pushed the pram around the women's wear department of Debenhams and have been in almost every shop in Preston (including Top Shop for the first time in 15 years!) and still not found anything that looks like it would be nice to go for an evening meal in... Sad
