Getting jewellery mended, rings shortened

Can anyone recommend where's best for this? I'm in London after a period overseas. Where's best? Do chain jewellers do this or do I need to go to an independent place. I've got a few items need mending/shortening. Hatton Garden even?
Thanks in advance

I was shopping around for ring repair recently.

Goldmsiths (high st jewellers) quoted me £575 to replace one small diamond in a ring, so I shopped around and Hirschfields in Hatton Gdn quoted £170 for the same work. If you Google them they have some really very good reviews, and have been in business for 100years (or something like that!)

I dealt with someone called Alexander who was a pleasure to deal with. I collect my ring tomorrow and I am sure it will be great.

Don't take it to a high street chain - they just send them to an independent anyway and charge you a massive mark-up. Definitely go to Hatton Garden and get a couple of quotes, it will be much cheaper, and the work more reliable too!

Oh thank, thank you! I shall try Hirschfields. Many, many thanks.
