I have long (nearly bra strap) highlighted fine hair, feel like a change. Im nearly 40. I have a plain face! Squareish. Would an angled bob suit or a shorter cut suit? Anyone cut off all their hair and not regretted it? A plain bob makes me look even squarer so dont want that. How do I decide? any suggestions would be great.

Yep a well cut, graduated bob always looks good. I've cut off my hair on several occasions and never regreted it - it grows back and a change is good.

I think a well cut bob always looks nice but can on some people look a bit ageing? and a nice blunt one needs a lot of maintenance to keep looking good. I cut my hair off a couple of years ago from below shoulders all one length to a fairly short graduated bob, people either really loved it or said "what have you done" lol now its back to shoulder length and Im trying to grow out my fringe to a sweep- aside length. I got fed up of the straighteners every day and just wanted it long and feminine again

thanks for the replies, i am still not decided! i have looked at tons of pictures and i really like the short into the back of the neck and then long and coming forward at the front but im thinking i may be too old for this really! all i do everyday is wear a ponytail which at best is croydon facelift and at worst just hangs in a straggly fashion! so i think im going to go for the chop, its just a matter of building up to it now i guess! i really need something low maintenance as i dont have a lot of time/inclination to style my hair all the time. i have a party to go to this weekend so maybe i will get it done before that, would be good to suprise my DP!

just go a a nice layered/choppy bob because I think they can look realy stylish, not too 'young' and you dont need to have perfectly curled or poker straignth edges to look good

Just trying to grow my bob out, as I also got fed up of straightening it every day. I did have it for 3 years though and loved it. Just fancied a change....

I meant to also say that I would go for choppy bob. Less maintenance and might soften a squarer face....
