What would you wear with this top?

I am going to a smartish party on Saturday and can't think what will look good with it. I am a size 16 pear so not sure if tight trousers are a bad move (although the top does come to mid thigh so should cover the worst of it! Grin)

So bottom half and shoes - any ideas?

Thanks!

Is it too short as a dress?

Yes too short as a dress - I am 5ft 3 with chunky stubby legs so can't wear anything shorter than knee length unfortunately!

with jeans?

nikki1978 · 20/09/2010 18:45

Well I either have bootcut jeans which I think might look a bit rubbish with the top or skinny jeans. Might be a bit too casual though. Lots of people are wearing smart dresses....

It is pretty. DP stuff is awful short though I find.

If I was younger I would wear it with opaque tights (Very Opaque though).

Or skinny jeans if the occasion was more casual.

nikki1978 · 20/09/2010 18:49

Hmm maybe it isn't going to work. I can't see skinny jeans looking smart really - unless maybe I wear them with wedges or would that look shite?

leggings?

wedges and skinnies with hair up, big earings that will echo the studs on the dress and a cuff on your wrist.

Smokey "wow" eye shadow and ultra glossy lips.

nikki1978 · 20/09/2010 19:05

I do quite like the idea of the wedges and skinnies actually. Maybe some black skinnies? I don't have pierced ears but can do the cuff :)

I am going upstairs to try this combination on - will let you know if I look like mutton dressed as lamb or not (although I am only 31 so should be able to get away with it!)

I think you will look dressy, but not too overdone.

You wont look like Mutton! As if! I wear the same sort of stuff and I am older than you!

nikki1978 · 20/09/2010 19:37

True. More worried about looking fat actually. The outfit looks pretty good but I will need new skinnies as the ones I have are for wearing with flat shoes so look a bit ankle-swinger with wedges.

Any tips on good skinnies? Need something that is a bit stretchy but thick enough denim to give good support holding in my big bum and tummy!

I like H&M Squin, they fit nicely and have a good bit of stretch in them. Also T-shop Baxters are good.
