Watch out the Merrell Wakefield has really long arms!

Tried this on today to see if it was worth the hype...

Don't really think it is..

The arms are very long - this is from someone who has long arms and is used to suit jackets being too short. The length would really bug me and I would want to roll up the sleves and it would look daft.

It is a neat fit - I tried on the Large (approx 14 - I am a 14) and it was a fitted fit - tried it on with T- shirt no way I could have fitted a jumper under it.

It is not a "winter" coat - it has no real padding. It is more like an Autumn mac - don't think this could see you through a cold winter.

I tried on the brown colour and the material was not matt like I had expected. It had a plastic thread in it (the waterproof aspect I suppose) but it did make it look a bit mac like and shiney.

I was a bit dissapointed as you have probably gathered and really glad I went to see it in the shop and try it on (Cotswold's by the way!)

Land's End Stadium Squall?

It's not a thing of exceptional beauty, but it is warm and waterproof and has a hood and doesn't make you look as if you've just joined the Ramblers Association.

thanks - I'm probably not going to get a new coat. I have last year's version of [http://www.marksandspencer.com/Per-Una-Repellent-Hooded-Jacket/dp/B003FCUYD8?_encoding=UTF8&categoryNodeID=42967030&node=43014030&mnSBrand=core&ref=sr_1_7&qid=1284920724&sr=1-7&rh=&page= this]] and I'm probably going to wear it.

I just happened to see the Wakefield when I was in the shop and thought I would try it on given how great everyone had been saying it was!

it looked my dream coat
i have short arms. Sad

Habbibu · 20/09/2010 20:09

The arms are fine on me - I'm 5'4, and a size 10-12, so I got the small, and it's a perfect fit. Mine is very matt in appearance - quite surprised it looked shiny to you. But no, it's not a winter coat, though v windproof, great for autumn and spring, though.
