Talk to me about Elizabeth Arden?

I've heard she's a cow Grin

More advice needed from S&B wise ones please. I have plaque psoriasis on my face that is currently under control and not really noticeable. A friend suggested Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour stuff and gave me the end of a tube to try.
She says it's the original but it's a cream with spf 15 and I remembered it (from years ago) as being a sort of sticky orangey paste iykwim. Has it changed or is there a better version than the face cream one?

The origiaal 8hr cream is sticky and orange and smells imo like TCP. hate it.
Someone did give e the 8hr hand cream and body cream andalthough it still smelt like disinfectant it was not too bad.

Clinique do a nice calming cream for redness/irritated cream. I used to have facial eczema and Clinique suited me best.

so if it worked and I was to buy it, what would I order? Had a look online and it ALL claimed to be original Smile
I don't know if it'll be any good anyway, will bear clinique in mind, thank you, but I am wary of buying without trying as I have spent a huge amount on creams trying to fix myself. Maybe I'll go along for a chat and see if they will give me a sample.

The original 8 hour cream is a different consistency to the body/hand/face versions. It's much thicker - I'm not sure I would be able to use it on my face regularly although I have done for very dry patches of skin in the winter - so it could work for you.

Generally I use it for elbows, knees, etc. I haven't used the face cream but love the body cream - have not found a single other one that touches it to date.

Oh, yes - the original one you remember is indeed orangy in colour. This is the one I use on very dry skin. And the other types are white and more like typical creams / lotions.

Tippychoocks · 18/09/2010 18:49

Thanks. So the level to which they work or the strength or whatever is constant across the range do we think?
I am also not sure about the sticky on the face but could maybe cope with it at night if it works.

The body one I use is excellent and the effect lasts a long time. I assume the face one would be equally as rich?

Tippychoocks · 18/09/2010 20:09

It smells much as I remember and is rich but not heavy like a body lotion.
So without being too thick, if I decide to try the sticky one (assuming the EA formula works for me) then what is it called? Is it still in a metal tube as opposed to a plastic one do you know?

Have you tried hydrocortisone cream? It's the only thing that works on my face for psoriaisis.

scottishmummy · 18/09/2010 20:20

8hr cream is greasy like cheap vaseline.smells vile

Tippychoocks · 18/09/2010 20:49

I'd say I've tried everything on the market and dreamed up BOF, including steriod and HC creams.
It's OK now but I live in fear of it flaring up Sad. So I try all sorts.

Am currently washing in nettles and taking stinging nettle pills Grin
