Yes, if you put it in your clear plastic bag, because nail varnish is under 100ml.

my friend is insisting I cant do my nails on the plane!! Its a ten hour flight and I dont have time to get them done here.

What other makeup can I take on? all the solid stuff?

You can take on anything solid, and liquids if they are in bottles of under 100ml and if they go in your clear plastic bag.

Rules for heathrow here

I hope they provide the bags, I cant spend anymore money!!

I tihnk Heathrow is still supplies free bags (Glasgow did in August) - but you can just use a sealable freezer bag from your kitchen if you want to go the airport prepared (and pick up a couple of bags for future use!)

Uou can take up to 1000ml of liquids/make-up/toothpsate/nailvarnish but no one item can be more that 100ml. A bottle of nail varnish will be smaller than that - and so will most make up. Your "solid" make-up (eye shadow/pencils, powder blusher) does not count.

HTH. Have a lovely trip! ;)

you can take it, I think, but they won't let you use it in the plane because it is inflammable. It happened to me once and they made me put it away.

i was doing my nails once on a plane & they asked me to stop- apparently the fumes get in the air conditioning system or something

diddl · 18/09/2010 10:00

Wouldn´t you consider it annoying to the person seated next to you?

It´s not a smell that many like, is it?

prettybird · 18/09/2010 11:06

I've done it often on a plane - it's about the only time that I have enough time to do an undercoat and a top coat as well. Having said that, it's usually dh beside me :)

You can take it on the plane, but I wouldn't advise it.
I took some in my hand luggage when I went on holiday this year.
Opened my handluggage bag half way through the flight and out wafted a rather strong smell of nail varnish.
The blasted thing had leaked! I suspect from the pressure as I double checked it was done up before I left.
Everything that was in the (luckily still sealed!) plastic bag - my make up, make up brushes, contact lense case etc - was covered in the stuff! :(
Nothing I could do until we got to the hotel, where I spent over an hour trying to salvage what I could with a whole pack of nail varnish removing pads.

I was told off for using nail varnish on a flight once - gets in to the circulation. Or something.
