After 23 years of marriage, I don't hide stuff anymore... he kinds of expects to come home and find shopping bags shoved on on the dining room table these days.

Grin

I kinda hid the fact though I have gone way over budget on my new diamond ring Blush. DH gave me some money to buy whatever I wanted and I just didn't quite have enough so I thought what the hell and just went for it. >

Whoamireally · 17/09/2010 23:07

oooh exciting Grin I am sure batting your eyelashes a few times will do the trick Wink

DH asks me to hide things. He says he feels very unreasonably grumpy when he walks in from work and sees parcels/bags lined up and me excited about purchases.

Once he's showered and eaten he loves to admire any beautiful new things but when it's the first thing he sees on coming home (works long hours/often away for days) his instinct is to be peed off/bit jealous that I have been having more fun.

Poor bugger used to come in filthy, hungry and not having slept for days and I'd be prancing round in a new frock and wonder why he was grumpy..

TrillianAstra · 17/09/2010 23:28

None. Why would I?

MrsC2010 · 18/09/2010 09:12

A few sale purchases for next summer, he would have laughed at me as I was heavily pregnant when I bought them and who knows what size I'll be. I was bored at home online shopping.

I do play down the cost sometimes, but I'm not buying much at the moment as my size is in flux and I'm enjoying trying to be frugal/save.

Mum72 · 18/09/2010 09:24

I go for the gradual release method. So not to shock him. Can be annoying when I just want to wear my new purchases though.

I dont have to lie this way though. When he asks "is that new?" I can say "no, had it a while" - which is true when its been hanging in my wardrobe for a week or 2 first.Grin

Whoamireally · 18/09/2010 10:05

mum72 I like your logic.

DavidDickheadson · 18/09/2010 10:09

Hide stuff I've bought with the money I've earned? Absolutely not.

RipMacWinkle · 18/09/2010 10:14

I'm a fan of slow release too. Not that DH would bother but he's definitely a "capsule wardrobe" kind of guy and doesn't quite get the whole need to have several jackets, coats, boots, shoes etc etc

Although compared to MIL I'm tame, she makes me look like an absolute amateur Grin

Maryqueenofchocs · 18/09/2010 11:19

I'm with Mum72, I hate the doorbell ringing when he's home - he's home alot - so I just chuck it on hall floor as if its nothing important.

He's cottoned on to this though as recently made a comment to a friend that he was astonished at how many parcels we seem to be getting these days and winked at me!

neither trefusis I just like a quiet life...it's called diplomacy.Smile

FattyArbuckel · 18/09/2010 11:29

The idea of hiding your purchases from your partner (unless a suprise gift for him!) gives me the shivers, what truly weird behaviour - why do you do this?

EldonAve · 18/09/2010 11:34

nothing, I like to show off the new stuff asap!

littlebabynothing · 18/09/2010 11:36

don't understand why you would hide things? Why would not hiding them be the cause of an unquiet life?

Maryqueenofchocs · 18/09/2010 11:42

I've a girlfriend who has asked me before now to have her net a porter order for the courier to collect it from me to avoid her husband seeing it......

We just do it for an easier life, guys do not generally understand the need for fashion/ style.

...Or maybe your OH's are different?

littlebabynothing · 18/09/2010 11:43

easier how though?
