French Sleepsuits

Hello,
First of all, I'm the grandma of an 8 year old and the expectant grandma of a boy due at the end of December.
I'm living in France now and have noticed that all the baby sleepsuits here have back fastenings. I would think that this would be uncomfortable for babies sleeping on their backs, but can't imagine that all French babies sleep on their tummies.
The fasteners seem to be mostly poppers, so maybe they don't dig in to baby's back.
I would love to know what mums think. I don't want to come back to England with clothes that the little chap will never wear!

Thanks

I don't know about digging in, but having tried to fasten sleepsuits up the back with a wriggling, uncooperative newborn inside, I would not recommend for that reason alone.

Have you visited Du Pareil au Meme? Lovely stuff and I think they do sleepsuits that zip up the front.

Thanks mrsgordonfreemam!
Have just been to the site and there are some really nice sleepsuits there with front openings. There is a store in Angouleme which isn't far from me, so I'll go and have a look there!
Thanks again

Probably a bit late, but.... I live in Belgium, and manay sleepsuits here are the same. I found them a pain when DS was a newborn, as I'd be having to change his nappy in the night, and to undo the sleepsuit he'd have to be placed on his tummy. Now he's older (6 months) I find them fine, as DS sleeps mostly on his tummy anyway. In my experience, poppers never dug in his back or left marks, etc.

Vertbaudet sells some front fastening sleepsuits, as does Kiabi (ones that button up down one leg) and La Halle.
